Vision Changes + Surprise from work!

My boss's wife is about 3 1/2 months ahead of me, and we actually had some time to chat today while she was waiting for him to finish up.

She mentioned that women who wear glasses often experience noticeable changes in vision. I had just assumed it was me, or that my TV was starting to go wonky!

Anyone else had any issues with their vision changing?

ALSO

The HR manager at work today sneakily came over (only her and the boss know, so far) and gave me a gift. It's a big box of baby samples - baby wipes, palmer's stretch mark lotion, formula, a bottle, baby lotion, nursing pads, binkies, diaper cream, and a $10 coupon for diapers.

Good thing I was done work for the day, 'cause these damn hormones have me crying at the littlest thing!

  • Yes, I've noticed my eyes becoming a little foggier and more nearsighted.

Great sample package - how nice!

  • I'm an eye doctor and yes, it is very common for a woman's vision to change during pregnancy.  Typically, you become less near-sighted because of the increase in fluid in the body and the eye.  I have noticed my vision changing and checked my Rx the other day....my Rx is a whole diopter less than it was prior to the pregnancy.  Also, my eyes are extremely dry....to the point that I can't wear my contacts anymore.

  • I'm SO glad I haven't had issues with dry eyes. My glasses are missing both the nose pieces, and I haven't had time to run out and replace them, so they're minimal use right now.

I'm finding I'm actually getting MORE nearsighted. My eyesight had actually improved when I got my latest pair of glasses, and if I slip on my old, stronger prescription, I can see farther.

  • I had to find a different brand of contacts to wear during my first pregnancy because my old ones didn't "fit" my eyes anymore.  I had no idea what was happening as they just hurt and I mentioned it to my sister who is an optician.  She was able to find me a suitable replacement.

  • I've been having to wear my glasses instead of my contacts more frequently lately. The contacts just don't feel as comfortable sometimes. I read in my pregnancy book that this is normal.

  • My eyes are a lot dryer but I have a fear of eye drops so I will just have to deal with it.

  • At first my eyes were really dry, way more than any normal tired eye day. Then i noticed not being able to see the TV as well or road signs. I got Lasik done about 3 years ago so I was hoping it was not going in reverse! Then I saw it preggo sympton. My eye doc gave me a low Rx of glasses to get me through so I didn't strain my eyes.

That's awesome you got free sample gifts! They are the best :)

  • I haven't noticed any vision problems yet. I hope I don't though!

  • I haven't noticed anything with my glasses but definitely with  my contacts. They get blurry to the point I thought I had put the wrong contacts in each eye. The dryness really only gets me with the contacts. My eye glass prescription is so old, before DS's pg. I'm waiting until after this pg to see the eye Dr and get a new prescription.
