Hey guys! I've been lurking here and there for about three weeks, but I finally decided to sit and stay a while
H and I got our BFP over Thanksgiving, and if I weren't so nauseated all the time I'd be really excited! I kid, I kid. We're stoked! But I have had the hardest time keeping anything down, and if anyone else tells me the secret cure for MS is crackers and ginger ale I might kick them in the shins. :P
Any other suggestions would be great -- I think the culprit is my PNV, which I have to take on an empty stomach. What PNV do/did you guys take?
ETA: I'm not "out" on facebook yet, so if we're friends then mum's the word!
Re: Finally coming out of the woodwork :)
Omg, yay!! I am so excited for you!! Congratulations!
I never had ms, but they make ginger tablets that I've heard help. Good luck
That is a REALLY good idea. I think I'm going to try that tonight! My first appt is next week, so I'm going to see about zofran then. I think I'm gonna need it :
Thanks!! Also... LUCKY!
Hahahaha!!! Yeah, I'm already developing a taste aversion to saltine crackers and buffalo rock ginger ale (it's the only kind I can find with real ginger in it). I'm going to have to re-evaluate my plan of attack soon, I'm afraid.
Congrats!
I never had full blown ms, but I was nauseated a LOT. I found just grazing through the day helped. And also eating jolly ranchers and starbursts really took the edge off.
I took Target PNV right before bed (with food) and I never seemed to have a problem.
OH MY GOODNESS!! AM!! I am so excited for you!!!!
I am so sorry you are feeling sick though. I took the Publix store brand PNV, and I also took them at night and they never made me nauseated.
I also had all day sickness, and like a PP said, grazing through the day really helps. As long as you keep something in your stomach then it will not be as bad. And keep a sleeve of crackers by your bed. It was like putting my foot on the floor in the morning triggered my sickness, but if I ate something first, I was able to get ready without gagging the whole time.
Yay!! I am so happy for you, and I hope you have a great first appointment!
Thanks guys!!
It seems like the secret might be in taking them at night. I've also heard that taking vitamin B6 can help too... So if things don't get better, maybe I'll try that
I'm one of those sick all day folks too
it's like, once I get sick the first time I just never recover from it.
Soon2B & MrsMoses -- OMG!! Your babies have gotten so big!
I didn't realize that so many AL nesties have had babies until I started poking around again recently. Belated congrats to everybody!
Yay!!! Congratulations!! I'm so happy for you guys.
LIke PP's have stated, taking the PNV at night is key. Take them before bed and with something on your stomach. Like I told you the other night, I took the PNV from Target and really liked them.
eeeeeek! AM!! I am so excited for you! Congrats :-D
I had morning sickness the first two months, I know it sucks! I chewed on wintergreen mints, drank a lot of water, and tried to eat bland things like toast even when I wasn't hungry. For me, I had to do that and STAY full. As soon as hunger would hit, so would the m/s so I had to whatever I could to NOT get hungry in the first place. I kind of reverted to elementary school- ate toast, mac and cheese. lol.
If a random thing suddenly sounds good, go get it. It might be normally gross or odd for you but might be what you need. Every now and then I'd get a craving and it might have been the only thing I actually enjoyed eating that week. So just do it.
If it gets really crappy, talk to your OB about zofran-but you may be like me and it could go away in 2nd tri. After about 13 weeks I felt great. Hope it'll go away for you too!
As for PNV-mine started tasting awful so I switched to a gummy Prenatal vitamin from Target, but they sell them at Wal Mart now too-called vitafusion. Such a difference!! The only thing is they have a little less stuff in them, so I take 2 a day, right before bed-and they don't have iron. So you may want to ask about that, if it's okay. I was okay with it because I could keep them down, plus my iron levels ended up being alright. But you're earlier in pregnancy that when I switched so I'd ask your OB next time.
Hi! Good to see you over here and congrats!
Like others, I always take my PNV at night. It's just easier that way.
As far as m/s, I had horrible nausea when I was pg with K. The only thing that really made me feel better was zofran during the day and phenergren at night. Also, like other said, keep some crackers by the bed and eat a couple before you get up in the morning.
Take small snacks throughout the day. Also, what was bad for me is that when I'm pg I seem to have a horrible taste in my mouth that makes me sick. But, sucking on lemonheads, jolly ranchers and other sour candy seemed to help a lot.

Stars- mine taste HARRIBLE. They have that fish oil stuff in them, so they taste (and smell) fishy. I'll have to talk to my OB about it. I've learned my lesson with the bland stuff -- plain grits stay down and fill me up a heck of a lot better than a cheeseburger does. I don't even want to talk about my run in with chicken salad the other day.
Another question for you -- do I remember correctly that you're going the NCB route? Where are you delivering?
lilcrablegs- they're RX
and they are EXPENSIVE. Shame, as I can never keep them down.
Many congrats AM!!!
I also took my PNV at night. That helped me tremendously. I would also eat first thing in the morning and eat crackers throughout the day. Make sure you're getting enough protein
Definitely the candy helped too.
I hope it gets better and again, congrats!!!
LMS & Aubie -- Okay, I'm so glad to know I'm not the only one with a weird taste in my mouth. I thought I was going nuts!
What kind of candy? The hard kind?
NCB=Natural childbirth, right? Then yes, we're preparing to go med free.
I'd be happy to share what I've read/used to prepare with you when you're ready to think about that part. (I couldn't bring myself to read/think too much about labor in the first trimester, lol. )
A creepy troll has been around recently, and claims she's pregnant. This weirds me out, so to give you a clue, I'm delivering at the hospital with the proper name, not a place name/university.
They have nice birth suites where everything takes place in one room (you aren't moved anywhere new for recovery after labor/delivery.). They offer birth balls to help with labor, have a squatting bar on the bed, and a glider in the room. I plan on going without an IV (using a hep or saline lock instead) and having freedom of movement as long as things remain uncomplicated.
Hey lady! Congrats! Long time, no see!
I agree with taking your PNV's at night..that's the only thing that worked for me.
Congrats!!! I had MS all day until in the evening. My saviors were peppermint Altoids and Zofran. The only think I could drink was lemonade.
Question: Does your PNV have a stool softener in it? I had to switch b/c the PNV I use to take had one and it really did a number on my stomach. I was really nauseous.
Hope any of the tips here work for you!
Congratulations!
I was a lucky one and didn't have morning sickness, but I too took my PNV at night and I think that really works.
Good luck and hopefully the sickness magically disappears soon
This!!
Yes... hard or sour candy. For me, lemonheads, jolly ranchers or even sour patch kids did the trick.

Congratulations! I have to second everyone who recommended Zofran... I took it pretty much the whole 40 weeks. Just make sure you are eating a lot of fiber and maybe take a colace the same time you take zofran... gross I know, but very necessary!

Congratulations! I took Target brand prenatals and also Expecta for the DHA. I took them at night before bed. My trick to not getting sick in the morning is to have saltines, graham crackers or a granola bar on my nightstand. When I would wake up I would move as slowly as I could to get the snacks, I would try not to disturb my belly at all. Once I was done eating it was safe to sit up. GL!
Yes! I'm taking Prenexa. Apparently it has a lot of iron too.
