I feel horrible.
This morning I was in the bathroom doing my makeup and Gracie likes to pretend and put some on as well. So, I put her up on the counter. She was sitting on her knees and we were singing Jingle Bells. Next thing I know...she lost her balance and falls off landing on her arm/wrist.
It happened so fast, I could only grab her leg, but she had already hit the floor. Immediately, I saw her wrist was limp and her hand was just hanging there. She was crying hysterically. I hugged her and tried to calm her down so I could check out her arm. She finally calmed down a bit and I asked her to move her fingers and wrist and she wouldn't. I asked her to grab my finger and she tried but started crying. I noticed she was moving her fingers and her wrist some.
I called the pedi office and her dr was not in today but another could see her at 1:15 this afternoon. In the meantime, I just held her and read some books to her to try to keep her mind off of it. We drove down and saw the Dr. By this time she is using her arm/hand/wrist , just not as much as usual. Even coloring. The Dr said there did not seem to be any reason to believe it was broken and that it is probably just sprained and bruised. Advised to just keep an eye on it. Phew!
I do feel horrible that I let this happen. DH was just telling me two nights ago to not let her sit on the kitchen counter and help me make supper because one of these day she is going to fall and break her arm or bust her head open. So you can imagine the response I got when I text him that I was taking her to the Dr b/c she fell of the counter. This was one of those, it could never happen moments and it did. I have never been so happy to have carpet in our bathroom. As of right now, she is running around just like she always does and her arm does not appear to be bothering her. I am so thankful that it is not broken.
