How do you deal with a stuffy nose?

My little girl is having trouble latching because her nose is too stuffy. She chokes and sneezes with snot. I have used the bulb with temporary success but I know that you aren't supposed to use it too often because it can swell her nasal membranes. How do you take care of your LOs' stuffy noses?

TIA!!

Do you just put a few drops in each nostril? And do you use the bulb afterward?

This.  I will add that I have the NoseFrida, and I effing love it.  I put some drops of saline up Alec's nose, wait a little bit, and then suck his nose out.  I know that sounds weird, but it's so neat.  I run a humidifier (cold) all night long.

  • I second the humidifier use.  I use it all day long since it's winter, anyway.

I was thinking of getting one of those. It's funny how I thought that it was disgusting before I had her but now I just want to make her feel better!

  • DH and I take turns holding her in the bathroom while the other takes a hot shower... this helps a little.
  • Saline solution works wonders.  I just put a few drops in and leave it.  I make sure she is propped up a little but though.  It is so dry in our house that we have to use it. Plus we use a humidifier.

I just picked one up at whole foods. their website (NoseFrieda) has a list of stores that carries it by zipcode. 1ht
