"oh wow youve dropped..."

anyone else just sick of this comment? or "you look like youre ready.."

honestly im getting tired of being asked how im doing..well im 33 weeks pregnant, i pee every 30 minutes, i can only sleep for 2 hours at a time, maternity clothes dont fit me, fmla denied my request, and the father of my child thinks his band is more important than working full time, HOW DO YOU THINK I FEEL?

Re: "oh wow youve dropped..."

  • When people ask me if I've dropped/how I feel, I tell them I'm 8 mo pregnant, my back hurt and I have heartburn. I hate having to fake like everything's perfect. I wish I could continue the list and say, my skin's drying out like a mo fo and my face is peeling, my feet swell a little, my hips hurt, I can't bend over anymore, I pee just dribbles every half hour, and eating ice cream gives me heart burn.

But I let 'em off easy with the condensed version. Just so they know it's not all peaches and cream. Thanks for telling me I dropped btw, church ppl- you couldn't have said 'Your belly is HUGE and I'm afraid you're going to pop my eye out' any nicer.

  • I am also tired of being asked how I am feeling. That is the first thing they ask. "Hey girl, how are you feeling".  Then when you tell them you feel like crap, they proceed to tell you how wonderful and pain free pregnancy they had.  Blah...
  • Yep, working with a majority of women I get these all the time. I always just either smile and say "oh yeah?" or if it's a how am I feeling question I say "fine" to avoid having a conversation with someone I have basically never had a conversation with before. Ugh!

This too! Wtf. I have a friend that does this all the time! "Oh, enjoy it, I know I loved being pregnant and enjoyed every minute of it."  Really?? You freak. Pregnancy is great and all, but come on! There are some complaints.

  • Yes!! If I hear one more person tell me, "oh wow, you've really had it rough....." Um I really don't think its anymore rough than anyone else, I just do not sugar coat everything and make people think that I am have this lovely time being pregnant. Please don't get me wrong, I love my little baby more than life itself, and I could not be happier and more excited to meet her, but I gotta tell you, the peeing, crying, being tired every second, not sleeping, and not being able to ever escape the heartburn or swollen feet, that really isn't fun. I want to say to some of these women, "oh just wait until you get where I am, " but then I would be that chick I hate, cause I also can't stand when people say, "Oh just wait.." as if this time so far has been a cake walk....But you know ladies, I know none of us would trade any of this for the world :) I hope all of you have a happy holiday, and baby count down!!!!
  • Totally unrelated, but I have to tell you that I LOVE the name you have picked out for your son!!  My son's name is Julian and we call him Jude.  It sounds fantastic with Alexander :)

  • It's funny... I am carrying much lower this time... but I will say with DD I was always debating 'if I dropped' well... it was WAY obvious when I did... the night my water broke it was like WOW.... I guess I did drop!

  • I also love that after they ask how you feel and you express its pretty crappy they respond "it only gets worse!" With a huge a$$ smile. Gee, thanks, really appreciate that!

My mom throws that on me.  I always make sure to let her know that it's just because she's my mother (and we're really close) that she gets to hear about it all.  She apparently was one of those women who had uneventful pregnancies - no charlie horses, no morning sickness, no back/hip/butt/groin pain, no trouble sleeping, no kidney stones or placenta previa (granted most don't, but hey I'm lucky Wink - both have cleared), no heartburn/acid reflux.  I always figure it's that birthing a child does more to make you forget about all the suffering than pregnancy brain does and I'm looking forward to it.

  • I just keep getting the "Still haven't had that baby yet huh?" Then I tell them I have roughly 7 1/2 weeks left and they do the "Oh, REALLY?!?!" like they just can't believe it.

I know I'm big - I'm measuring a few weeks ahead. But really?

thanks! ive had some great responses from people about his name, none of the awkward "oh thats nice" its always been "i love it!" but alot of people think its ridiculous hes getting two last names..oh well..

  • UGH!  I just went through this, this weekend.  Although, I got.... "do you think you're actually going to make it 2 more months?  How much bigger can you get?"... "You can eat that now, but you wont be happy when the baby is born and you're trying to lose all that weight".... "a girl came into the store today and she's due in 10 days.. you're due in 10 weeks, and she was so much smaller than you".
