TTC After a Loss

I am new here

Hello all,

I am new posting to  this board, and while my situation is a little different than most I see here, I hope I am still welcome. Our son was born November 17th, with no kidneys, he was only with us for an hour and four minutes. I had been without amniotic fluid since 19 weeks, and had known that our son had a condition for quite some time, so my fiance and I  were able to somewhat 'prepare' ourselves for the loss. Although no one can really ever prepare themselves for the loss of their child. There is so far no reason as to why his kidneys didn't develop, we are waiting on genetics test results to come back. We named our baby Otis Jack Neal, after our 3 closest grandfathers. We aren't yet TTC, but it is a plan for the near future, as we believe it is what we need to help us heal from our loss. I hope I will be welcome here, I enjoy reading your posts, I can really relate to most of you!

Until next time,

Tisha

  • I forgot to mention that I carried my son full term, I went into labor on the 17th and was actually due on the 30th of Nov. That's what makes my situation a little different. Otis weighed 7lbs 14oz and was 20in.

  • Thank you, I appreciate that. You know, during the whole pregnancy, the perinatologist never referred to my son's condition as Potter's Sequence, he kept calling it Renal Agenesis. I guess they are the same thing, but I never heard the other term until I began my own research online.

I would appreciate having someone to talk to who knows what I have been through, thank you!

  • I did get to hold him, I held him the whole hour and four minutes he was here with us, aside from the doctors taking him to check his vitals. I was able to give him lots of love and kisses, that gives me a little bit of peace. Thank you for your condolences!

  • I just got my hospital records, and they confirm that my son had Potter's Sequence. Does anyone know where I can find more information about this?
