Gah, what book are you pulling from? I'd check these against a few legit sites because most baby name books out there put all kinds of unverified crap in them.
Ansleigh - cre8ive spelling of a distorted name from the masculine Ainsley
Magdalen - I prefer Magdalene (same pronunciation) and it's underused IMHO
Danica - has a lovely meaning, but terrible personal associations
Alana - nice, but not my style...bonus: it's not that popular
Nadia - nice, N name...I end up saying it with a Russian accent thoguh
Avalynn - invented name smoosh. It's the popular Ava and Lynn. I wouldn't mind a double first name, but this name smoosh looks trendy and dated and completely made up. Avalon, Ava Lynn, Evelyn (see they don't even follow the rule of the LYNN dropping an N when it becomes a name suffix)
The only name I like is Danica (and I'm not just saying that bc it's DDs name). My second pick would be Alana but I'd it's pronounced a-lane-ah I prefer the spelling Alaina.

Magdalen-love this, and so under rated!
Danica- really like this
The rest, not so much.
The only one I like is Nadia.
Ansleigh looks like it should be pronounced Ann-Sleigh. I just see sleigh in it...like as in sleigh ride.
I like Alaina, Alana and Danica
