Backstory....
Previous schedule: DS was going to bed (after bath, book, bottle) around 7:30 each night. He was still getting up once a night to eat (between 4-5) which we were totally fine with. He would go right back to sleep and wouldn't wake up until 7ish. He napped great during the day too.
BUT, this last week he caught a bout of the baby flu (some type of viral gastro something) and his schedule is a wreck. He barely ate for three days (just pedialyte) and slept a ton. Now he's back to bottles but no baby food yet. The important thing is that he's feeling better; no longer vomiting (that only lasted 24 hours) and his poops are becoming solid again.
Now here we are. He's fighting naps, up every 2 hours at night, and just not his normal perky self. I know some of that is because he's still not feeling 100% but we're struggling over here. DH and I both have very demanding jobs and running on little to no sleep is starting to take it's toll (not saying anyone else has a cake-walk job).
I know we have to be patient while he's recovering... but once he's better I think we need to do SOMETHING different. Are we not feeding him the right things to keep him full? Are we not creating a strong enough schedule? Do we need to introduce an earlier/later bedtime?
Please, help a tired/frazzled mom out.
Re: I think we're ready to sleep train maybe :( help?

DS just got over the nasty flu or something viral. High fevers, congestion, etc. It typically takes him 7 days to get back into a routine, especially sleep. He's been eating less, so once he gets better, he eats more to stock up. Plus he's just a little "off" for a while.
Unfortunately, I don't think there is anything you can do. I might give it a few more days if you can and see if he gets back on track.

I get it! It's still fresh for me. Last night was the first STTN in about a week (since the illness). It's been horrendous getting him down and he wakes up and wants to party. Two nights he slept in our bed clutching my face with his little hands. Which sounds sweet, but I can't sleep. And my face is scratched from when he was startled.
