OK see that? See how it says "Looks like a boy!!"? Why do people keep going "I don't know, most boy ultrasounds at 18w6d are more uh..pronounced" or "that looks like a girl with the umbilical cord going through her legs, you can sort of follow it down!"
I don't get another ultrasound until the 11th of January (my doc does them at every visit for free) but this is prompting me to consider dropping the 100 on an elective :P I know it isn't a perfect picture because my child refuses to sit still for five seconds..
Re: Ultrasound in question (PIP)
ugh, yeah, I can see what you mean. I am in no way an expert, but I would want more proof. Did you see more during the u/s?
You could post it on in-gender.com and see what everyone says. The people there are very honest and accurate and there are a few u/s techs who read the board.

I am no expert either and only have our own ultrasound to go off of...but our daughter had a very distinct 3 lines (two on the sides and one in the middle).
I can see how possibly it is the umbilical cord...but...my question is where is the third line (the one in-between) then if it is a girl?
I think everyone gets worried that they got the wrong answer...but you are definitely lucky that you get one every month. Our anatomy scan was the last one we know we are getting before the baby comes.
Best of luck working it all out.

I think the speculation may be that the third line is being hidden by the umbilical cord. The theory I was given was "it's between her legs and sort of under her butt..she'd be straddling it" so..who knows.
I guess I'll find out the 11th. If I don't die of curiousity first
