A month ago my section was scheduled for 37w 4d on my birthday. I was told that was not too early and I could have the date. It was confirmed with hospital and insurance. Last week at my NST I was contracting and an internal showed a softening of the cervix so I was put on modified bedrest. Yesterday the practice calls and tells me they have now changed my section to a full week later because one dr (my dr who said I was already softening) decided it was too early. I am so upset and I let them know it. The babies at last night's u/s weighed 4 12 and 4 15 at 33w 3d. This seems ahead of what they should be measuring. Why would the dr's act like I am going to go early and then change my delivery a whole week later? Are these babies large for their gestational age? I am so confused. Was wondering what your experiences were.

I'm sorry you're frustrated. IMO, I'd just call that dr. and ask him why he decided to postpone and have him give you his rationale. He owes you that and perhaps it can help appease some of your frustration/confusion about the situation.
I too had a date set in stone for my delivery but the one dr. said "let's go until 39-ish weeks". Family had to reschedule plane tickets, travel arrangements, etc., but I was happy, in the long run, to have the extra cookin' time as both girls had no NICU time and came home healthy with me.It all worked out despite the change of plans.
Also, even though the growth scan u/s try to be accurate, mine (thankfully) were way off--one DD was even labeled IUGR/SGA and ended up being a full 1.5 lbs bigger at delivery. So, even though your u/s shows good weights for your gest. age, you can never be sure.
Hope it all works out! Hang in there.
All thru my pregnancy, they kept saying oh we won't let you go past 38 weeks.... so in my mind that was July 31st, 38 weeks. When it came time to schedule my c section, they scheduled it to be 38w4d... which got me really upset since I was so large and uncomfortable then...
I showed them.. my water broke a week earlier. Don't get too upset or attached to your scheduled date, babies will come when they want to come.

You have to remember that the u/s weights aren't exact. If they were, then my girls didn't gain an ounce from Week 35 to Week 36 3 days when they were born!
IDs usually are delivered around 36 weeks if the u/s estimates that they're big enough (b/c they don't like the babies sharing a placenta much beyond that). Even with pretty decent weights for 36 weekers (5 lbs 12 oz and 5 lbs 4 oz), my girls had NICU time. As uncomfortable as you might be, if you can keep them in until 38 weeks, I'd keep them in.
