Sports car vs. car seat

My DH drives a sporty 2 door coupe (Infiniti G35).  There's no way he's giving up his baby. I know it's going to be a pain to get a car seat in and out of there, but that's just something he'll have to deal with.  I know at some point he'll come around and want to trade in his man car for something a little bit more friendly. But it's really something he's going to have to come to on his own.

What car seat are you getting? Any second time mamas have recommendations on what car seat works best?

Re: Sports car vs. car seat

  • We are selling our Saturn Sky because it doesn't even have a back seat. DH is crushed.

  • This is my exact dilemma right now! We also have a G35 sports coupe. Will a car seat even work back there?!

  • I have a little coupe too and their are 2 small bucket seats in the back that the boys fit in now but no waya a baby will fit in my car. DH has a 4runner though so if I hae to have all 3 kids DH will have to let me drive him car.

It's supposed to. According to my DH, the dealer told him the car has a LATCH system for carseats (his is a 2005).

  • I had a cute little Nissan 240SX 2 door, hatchback with a tiny backseat-plus the car was really short/low to the ground. While it was old and rusty, I LOVED that car- I still miss it when I see people drive by with one (which luckily in my city is only every couple months). Now I drive a really nice big-girl Buick Allure- which will be great for baby, but it's not the same :(

Sorry, no recommendations. Other than I'd get one of the smallest ones possible- so not the snugride 32/35 or any of the other ones with a big weight limit.

  • It really depends on the size of your backseat.

You MAY have to get a convertible car seat for that car (which is okay really because you will need it eventually anyway)....

  • In our house, the car seat won. DH is selling his Mitsubishi Spyder Convertible by the time I go back to work after maternity leave. On a few occasions, we have had friend's car seats in the back and some fit better than others, but it is a monumental pain to get the baby in and out since it is a 2-door. He loves his car but will be doing a lot of daycare dropoff and pickup so he doesn't want to deal with it all the time. If the baby wasn't going to be in his car so often, we would consider keeping it. I think BRU might let you try out floor models in your car.
