Advice Please: Cold hands at night

Our DS has such COLD hands at night.  We've recently stopped swaddling him - so his hands are no longer under cover all night.  He wears warm jammies and sleeps in our bedroom in a pack-n-play.  The room temp gets to 68 at the lowest (IMO that's not too low for a baby?).

He doesn't seem bothered by it, but does like to snuggle in when I nurse.  I've considered a sleep sack, but the ones I picture don't even have arms.  And he likes his hands free since he is starting to suck on his fingers.

What do you think?  Do we need to crank up the heat?  Or any other suggestions?

TIA!

  • A baby having cold hands (or feet) does not mean they are cold.  So I wouldn't worry about it if it doesn't seem to be bothering him.

  • ditto pp.  but if its really bothering you, you could try putting socks on his hands to help keep them warmer.

  • My DS has cold hands at night too. He sleeps in his room with the door shut and it does get colder in there than in our bedroom, so I turn the heat up to 72 at night. It seems to help a little. But like the other posters said, I think it bothers me more than it bothers him :)
  • Dylan is the same way.  Alan keeps trying to put a blanket on him and I keep trying to tell him that when the baby's BODY is cold, then he is really cold...but hands and feet don't really count unless he seems cold.  D has been sleeping in our room the past week in the rocknplay because hes been sick and I have this fear that he's going to choke in the nursery and we won't get to him in time (i know i know...crazy mommy)...haha.
