What is Squishy doing?

When she's awake, she babbles and coos (and it's adorable). When she's asleep, she grunts and squeaks and moans (and it's adorable for about 2 minutes, in the afternoon, and then not). This isn't quiet--we have to speak louder to be heard over her. She's not pooping, if she's uncomfortable she moves or screams, and she's not hungry or in need of burping when she does it.

Is it possible that we just have a LOUD, chatty baby?

And if we do, is it inevitable that she's going to grow into a LOUD, chatty kid? Because M is totally blaming this on my side of the family...

  • i've heard that some babies are just loud sleepers, for no real reason.  if she's in your room and it's affecting your sleep i don't think there's much else you can do besides move her to her room.  i guess you could try further from your bed at first to see if that helps?

i don't think it correlates to toddlerhood and beyond though.  :-)

  • Sounds like Avery! DH and I were talking about that last night how loud she is. She snorts and grunts and cries and farts real loud when sleeping! Addison was a quiet sleeper. You wouldn't even know she was in the room and she's so LOUD now! LOL. I'm hoping that since Addison was quiet and now is loud that my loud baby now will be more quiet than her sister.
  • Ethan does this too.  We call it his dinosaur noises.  He has started to quiet down a little bit over the past week or so.

  • She is just a loud sleeper. A friend of mine had to move her LO to his room much earlier than she planned because she couldn't sleep with him in her room!
  • DS stopped grunting and moaning all the time when I gave up eating dairy.  Turns out he wasn't just a noisy kid, he was just having digestive issues!
