Clogged tear duct

I'm massaging and using a warm washcloth to help ease the junk out of her tear duct, is there anything else I should do? It is not red or infected looking, so my pedi said I didn't need to bring her in. Any other ideas? I know some people say BM helps, but BF'ing didn't work for us so I can't go that route.

Re: Clogged tear duct

  • I just used water and cotton balls. It cleared up after 4 days. I thought it was getting worse, then one morning she was fine.

  • DS had one when he was a couple weeks old. Massaging gently at every feeding cleared it up within a day or so.
  • Keep doing what you're doing. Aiden had one not too long ago and it cleared up after 3 days with just using a warm washcloth as needed.

  • Hey babe! Maybe try to express a little milk anyway? If it doesn't work, it doesn't work - you tried. But if it does, it might help heal it!

  • DS had block tear ducts in both eyes since he was born, and I been doing the warm washcloth, rubbing the corner of his eyes, BM. still hasn't cleared up.

I have a feeling he is going to have the surgery to get it done

MY children are being raised by me and my DH. I can't speak for the poor girl everyone seems to think is me. I bet she didn't breastfeed either though. Nasty.

I thought the same thing about Spencer and then one day it just stopped. He had his for about 6 weeks. I hope your DS's clears up soon!

i hope it does clear up on it's on own. Some days it looks like its all gone. other days it's so bad, he can barely open his eyes.  I wish it would go away

Yes, but she and her new husband planned and saved for 3 years so that she could be a SAHM and be better than all of us. Her new husband is wonderful.

Except he doesn't exist. And she works, so clearly her baby is not being raised by her. *eye roll*

Someone really needs to find a new way to get their kicks rather than berating other women for what they hate most about themselves. The projecting she does would make Freud fap his pants with theories.

We saved for 5 years. I was only married to previous husband for one year. Sorry guys, I know its hard that some people are responsible and are good parents and a lot of you just don't have the instinct.

  • DS has it too and the doc said it could take 6 months to fully clear and can come and go throughout that time.  I just put a warm moist cotton ball to his eye and massage it a little.  It doesn't seem to bother him.

I had to have the surgery when I was little and I was so upset when DD had clogged ducts in both eyes when she was born. I used the warm water and massage a few times a day and about 2 weeks ago it just stopped. It hasn't come back yet and I'm hoping it's gone for good!

  • We just had this come up Saturday, we tried massage and a clean warm wash cloth to wipe away the discharge but it seemed to get worse. Yesterday we took her to the dr and he said it was a clogged tear duct but turned into pink eye? They gave us drops to put in 3 times a day for 5 days, today is the 2nd day and its already clearing up :)

DS had the same thing so my pedi gave us some ointment for it that you use 3x a day as long as its there and if it disappears don't use it unless it comes back... It worked for us within 3 days and after using it for 2 weeks he hasn't had it since and he is now 3 months
