LO #1 and cribs

Just curious when your LO#1 was moved out of their crib to a 'big kid' bed or even a toddler bed.  We think we will keep LO #1 in his crib after #2 gets here, but didn't know how long it would be worth it to get a new crib or just keep the baby in the PNP.

    i've been wondering the same thing.  my mom thinks ds will be ready for a toddler bed by the time #2 is born, and i think dh is starting to think so too...  but i just don't think he will be ready, and i know that i for sure won't be ready for that LOL!! 

    i want to keep him in his crib as long as possible just to keep him contained.  the thought of him running loose in a bedroom by himself terrifies me. 

     we have a pnp w/bassinet that we used w/ds and will probably do the same w/#2.  at least that will give us time to decide if we want to get a new crib or not.

    I always give the same advice: keep Big in the crib as long as possible. It's so nice to have a place to contain them and you don't need to worry about the transition in conjunction with the new baby.

    Use a bassinet or PNP for the first few months if you are not sure - you can always decide later.

    I plan to keep DS in a crib as long as possible. BUT - we have a camping trip coming up next year and I think he's going to have to sleep in a bed...so we'll probably transition him when he's about 2 1/2. :( I really like that he is contained and he's given up trying to get out so it has been a great tool for us!
