So our parents and very few friends know we are pregnant. However we have not told them about the twin part. We plan on doing a shadow box for xmas of the ultrasound .... to surprise our parents who are already grandparents from our siblings. BUT NO TWINS !
Also, we wanted to share with everyone on our new years card we send after the New Year so we will be about 10 weeks ( i know a lil early ) but we are so excited. Anyone have any suggestions on what we should say on the card?
How did you announce that you were Doubling up !

Re: Breaking the twin news!
we had my older son wear a shirt "i'm a big brother" to announce we were pg... and a week later when we found out it was twins we just showed everyone our US pics... "hey- check out US photos we got this week!"... and waited for them to realize why it said baby A and baby B
It was fun to watch the looks on their faces.
when we announced we were pg with DS1 we had my family get together in a pic - told them we just wanted a family pic for something... then DH said "OK- everyone say Gail's pregnant!"... and then snapped photos - got their reactions on film- it's the best photos to have! You could do taht on xmas when you tell them... get pics!
'
have fun with it... and yeah- it's early - but we told almost everyone right away (at 5w).. if something bad had happened we would have told those people anyway so we were comfortable with it. There is never a truly "safe" time - so i say enjoy telling people!
That's a really cute idea!
Have everyone share their new years resolution...
"my resolution is to....
....get their nursery together in time
.....grow these babies big and strong
etc"
We found out there were 2 last year on December 23rd and hadn't told anyone we were pg yet, so to tell my Dad we wrapped the u/s photo along with 2 onesies. Everyone got the pregnancy suprise right away, but then we told them that there were 2 onesies for a reason... THEY.FREAKED.OUT!
It was awsome.
BFP #2 - 12/9/09 After being on bedrest for 10 weeks due to TTTS and hospital bedrest for 4 weeks due to PPROM, my sticky babies are here! Born at 32 weeks!!
I used this little poem/rhyme to tell my coworkers. You could also work it into a card...
Double the Pleasure, Double the Fun!
The Smith's are expecting, And it's two for one!
Then I had a basket of Double Mint gum for everyone.
Here is a picture of it on my blog...

I just handed over the u/s pic to my parents. They stared at it.
"Um... why does it say A and B?"
Me: "yep. There's 2 of them."
all GREAT GREAT Ideas what will I do.... Damn ... have to make some decicions soon.
We are giving all of our friends fetus cookies and I am also trying to incorporate a not in there somehow I like the double mint one - but it does not go with fetus cookies. We are a lil macabe and the fetus cookies are totally us !
Just need something to say in those also .. OK gonna go try to brain storm thanks for the ideas everyone !

What the hell is a fetus cookie??!! I swear...the Bump has stuff on it every day that surprises me/I've never heard of.
We just told our friends/family that I was pregnant. When we found out it was twins, we just told our friends/family it was twins. It's pretty exciting as it is, so I didn't see the need to dress it up. Oh wait--- we did give MIL Goodnight Moon wrapped up. When she opened it, we told her it was to read to her grandchild. I forgot about that one. She teaches first grade and likes cutesy stuff like that. So I did dress it up a bit, for her.
I think people take the whole "clever ways to tell people" way too far sometimes and it can get narcissistic (like gender reveal parties...what the....). But that's just me! Have fun doing it, whatever you do. People are happy and excited for you regardless of how you tell them. People like good news.
I like the idea of a little rhyme. Our shower invitations read:
Pink or Blue, we have no clue. But pretty soon, there will be two.
We knew we were having girls but didn't announce until the shower. We didn't want to be overwhelmed with everything pink. Plus we wanted people to stick to the registry as much as possible.
Congrats! It's such an exciting time for you!
Amanda so so so true people are happy with GOOD news. I just feel like we have been trying for a year and spent lots of money and finally our prayers have been answered. We are also Gay couple and so this is huge as we had lots of hoops to jump though.
Here is the fetus cookie cuter - like i said we are a lil macabe but thought it was so cute https://hogmalion.com/shop.cfm?Action=Det&ID=54 we know our friends will get a kick out of it.
Thanks

One of the ladies on my local board did an awesome thing when she was expecting her first.
It was a framed picture of her and her DH when she was, I think, about 6 weeks pregnant.
The caption read something like:
Photo: $1
Picture frame: $5
Wrapping paper: $2.99
The look on your face when you realize there are three people in this picture: Priceless.
You could do something similar but change "three" to "four".
Unable to even.
