Do you receive one from your boss? If so, what do you get? The last job I was at for 10 years, my boss gave me $200 GC; my current job (first 4 years I got $500 Amex GC); year 5, I got nothing and this year I got a box of chocolate.

Lol - we were just talking about this at work on Friday. Our boss usually gets us something that is $5 or less - a bag of Lindt chocolates, a cup filled with candy, etc. - get the idea? Hold on to your seats - this year, we got a (1) flour sack dishwashing cloth with some ribbon sown on it. Too thin to dry dishes with and no idea on how to regift it (too tacky). Hey - I'll trade it for you box of chocolates - lol......
Last year we got a bag of kettlecorn from the company. People were pissed. They would have done better to have sent a Christmas greeting with we can't afford to do anything this year for you.

OK - I win so far! I got a very nice bottle of tequila from my boss. Not a company sanctioned gift to be sure, but there's a group of us that have spent a fair amount of time hashing things out over pitchers of margs with guac and chips, so it was perfect!
Ugh, sorry but other than token gifts from my boss make me uncomfortable. As do more than token gifts from my assistant. Eh, hard to please. The high $$$ GCs sound like they were company funded, then the company pulled funding and now he is stepping up to do something (or the company is funding some token). I have received zip from my boss for the past 3 years -- well, maybe a card. This year I got some homemade fudge from his wife. Which was appreciated. I always give him and his wife some homemade cookies and such from baking. I prefer to set expectations low. Except they fell in love with the sugar cookies I swore never to make again. Figures.
ETA: oh and the company does nothing for Christmas. We used to have a party (which I hated attending and managed to avoid for the 2 years they had them) but that got scaled down to a potluck where they ran out of food this year. Awesome.
My boss used to give small gift cards to a restaurant (Souplantation, Pick Up Stix and the like) but money has been tight in her family with her son and his family moving back in so I am not expecting anything this year.

Agree with PP that it looks like the 200 or $500 GC are payed for by the company. I got $150 GC from the cmpany this year. Nothing from the boss except he scanned my GC and e-mailed to me (I am still home on maternity leave). My H gave wine and $25 Starbucks GC (that he bought himself) to his nurses, scheduler, and physician assistants.

My last job had it right about holiday presents (it was the only thing they got right)
The company sponsored a "party in an envelope." Everyone got $200 and a nice card from their boss and gift exchanges were discouraged.
