TMI: tearing 5 days after birth??

I was wondering if anyone has had this experience etc. I had an episiotomy 1st degree, only one stitch in the perineum area. After birth I had no troubles with urinating/bowels or pain. I was just slightly uncomfortable with sitting too long. 5 days after birth I have a tear, or perhaps just noticed? This tear is in the vaginal wall, horizontal, and looks like a gash.  I was looking at it and it appears to be almost half an inch long and maybe a 1-2cm wide.This is now painful! It hurts/stings to pee, which I mean me bawling because of the pain.  Running warm water over at the same time doesn't help at all. Sitting any amount of time over 30 mins it starts getting uncomfortable. If I do too much, meaning actually have to walk around the house or bending over I eventually hurt just nonstop.So, anyone know what this is like? Is it common to tear a week after birth? I called L&D and they said most likely they wont stitch me up because it is internal. Also, said they would if I was actively bleeding. Umm of course I'm bleeding from after birth, but I don't know if it is from the tear only, both, or what!  I do plan on calling my Dr for his opinion but still would like to know if I'm alone in this or what.

    I had an internal tear with my DS and it was much worse than my 2nd degree episiotomy.  My doc stitched mine up after delivery.  I never had any problems peeing, though.  It sounds kind of odd and wouldn't be likely (I would think) that it occurred recently, but probably with delivery and your doc didn't mention it to you for some reason.  Either way, I would call your doc tomorrow.  I would think if it is suddenly hurting you that bad that it should be looked at.  Hope you feel better soon!

    Once my swelling went down, an abrasion or something became exposed and it stung like heck peeing and would throb in pain for a good minute. Don't have any advice, just hoping you feel better soon!

    I had two tears but they weren't internal...just up and down.  I was in a lot of pain in the beginning and there was a lot of swelling, especially in one area.  I would say if it's something that just doesn't seem right, then definitely give your Doc a call.
