When we were choosing names for my DS, I liked this one but we chose Matthew, which we both really loved. DH never liked the name above.....I wondered what others thought of it.
NMS but I also wouldn't use a name my husband did not like..

I love it- definitely something that I would consider naming LO. But like PPs have said, if DH was 100% against it I'd have to put it on the 'no' list.
I love the name! My sons name is Gunner and I think a cute "brother" name Gavin. You can always drop the name Gavin when referring to your bump, maybe hearing it over and over your husband will warm up to it

For popularity, I think this is a good graph....it's definitely in a trendy spike right now (you have to enter the name). Also check Social Security to see how fast it's going up.
Honestly, I have known a few Gavins and they were all named that because their moms were trying to make their babies cool, and probably make themselves seem cool by proxy. I'm not saying that's what you're doing, I'm just saying that's what I think of. A kid who is being encouraged to be some awesome rocker by a friend/parent.
Make your own call on DH....maybe he will come around. Maybe he will just give in. Personally we both have to love the name, and if we don't then the other person respects that.
It's in our top three. My DH and I agreed if one of us does not like a name, then it's off the list. My DH has vetoed my top two choices, but I got to veto a few of his crappy choices too!
I used to really like it, but I have a student this year who drives me ABSOLUTELY CRAZY and is named Gavin. After having him I would NEVER consider the name.

I love it! My cousin named his son Gavin so I'm a little biased, but I loved it before too! It's one of those names that's cute as a kid, but isn't weird for an adult either.
Re: Your opinions on this boy name....
I don't like it, sounds a little old. But I love Matthew!!!
NMS but I also wouldn't use a name my husband did not like..
It is a fine name but I personally like Matthew better. However since your husband doesn't like it, I would say no.
FWIW, I love the name Ethan but my husband doesn't like it, so we won't use it.

My cousin has a 4-year old and my friend has an 18 month old named Gavin.
They're slowly fixing my hate of the name, based on a guy I couldn't stand in high school
This. Don't love it...don't hate it

I love it but hubby vetoed it for us. Oddly enough, Matthew was on my list at one point too...
