How many of you have doctors that will be doing ultrasounds in the next eight weeks to determine placement, weight of the baby and things like that? I have heard a few people mention this and I was curious how common it is.
My doctor mentioned doing one at 34 weeks. But I'm not really sure, because last appointment she talked like she would only do another ultrasound if I was measuring behind at my next appointment. So I'm honestly not sure (and I'm a little tired of my doctor going back and forth on things).
Dee,
Mommy to: Sofia, born 2/9/11, as well as three dogs, two cats and a multitude of chinchillas.
I am having another ultrasound at 35-weeks but I'm not sure if that is normal. I am considered "high risk" and have had a few issues and the ultrasound is with a specialist who has actually done most of my ultrasounds.
I asked my dr if I would have another u/s before LO is born, and she said, "Maybe, we'll see." I took that to mean that if something seems off, I'll have one. If I am measuring right on track and she can tell that LO stays head down like she is now, then I won't.
My midwife mentioned me getting one at my 36 week appointment to check to make sure baby is head-down. I was surprised, because I thought they could just feel for the position, but if that's the way they do it... I'll take another sneak peek at the baby
As of today, I will have 1 per week until delivery to monitor baby's nuchal cord. I only had one today, because my fundal height was unchanged from 2 weeks ago, and I lost a pound instead of gaining anything.
Had one today (I'm 32 weeks) and another one is planned for 37 weeks to check the baby's size and so my perinatalogist can make recommendations re: delivery (induction, C section, let nature take it's course). But that's because I was dx with GD.

With my doc now, I get an u/s at every appt. Talk about hard to be team green! She just likes to see the baby and doesn't charge for them, plus she always does them herself. I already know that baby was head up at 24 weeks, but has switched to head down by my 28 week u/s.
With #1, I lived in another state, my ob gave 3 u/s. One at about 6 weeks to see heartbeat, the 20 week, and then one at 36 weeks to check position.

've had all mine done at 8, 21, 28 and then will have one at 33 weeks. Not sure if she will do another after 33 weeks or not. When I got my 28 week one she said it is because of my thyroid problem I'm having but not really sure why on the 33 week but I will not complain!
We have an ultrasound scheduled for next week Wednesday, December 29. I?m interested to hear how much our OB thinks our little guy weighs.
Figuring the weight by u/s is not very accurate. There is a whole pound leeway each side. With #1, they guessed he was about 7 pounds at 36 weeks, I had him at 38 weeks and he was only 6.7.
With #2, they guessed about 8 lbs. at 38 weeks, and I had him at 39 weeks and he was 7.12.

I'm not high risk at all, just having a large baby. I had one at 33 weeks and will have another one at 38 weeks to make sure she's not too big to try and push out. My little chunker!
I will be having one at 36 weeks, but my OB with #1 and #2 (in another state) did not do this. I think my current OB just really likes to do them though, I've already had 4 and I am not even high risk!!

I'm getting another one and I've had a normal healthy pregnancy. He said he would just like to see where she is on her weight and placement. I'll get that in 4 weeks.
Unless we find an issue, its dating ultra, 20 wks for anatomy and done. Kinda wish I could see him again, but don't have the extra cash to pay for a 3d/4d.
I just had one last week to re-check the placenta, which looked great, thank gosh! Other than that, I would not have had one and don't think I will be getting any more. Although our LO is typically in the same position, I can feel where he is at, head down, bottom up, and feet kicking my right side. When they did the ultrasound, they did an internal, and his head was right there, confirming my thoughts about his position.

I have one at 32 weeks....but that doesn't surprise me since they keep sending me for ultrasounds. Its mainly to check the weight and such because i'm so short they can't tell if I have a huge baby or if I carry super weird.
My last OB did it just for head placement. if DS was breach then she was going toput in a standing order for a c/s if DS didn't turn. My current OB will do the same thing.

My OB said he wants me to have one final u/s at 37 weeks to check for baby's size & position, and fluid volume. I've been measuring 2 weeks ahead at the last couple appointments, so I think that's why.
Mine is doing one at 36 weeks to check growth and placement. Not sure if that is always the case, but they have been closely monitoring my blood pressure since it became elevated at 20 weeks and also I have only gained 12 pounds total (at 20 weeks I had only gained about 5 pounds). They did an ultrasound at around 24 weeks to check his size and the placenta to make sure the blood pressure wasn't effecting him & and he was just fine so they did not feel the need to do anymore testing. They just decided to do one follow up one at 36 weeks one last time before I go into labor to double check his size is still coming along, and that he is still head down.
I have another one scheduled for next week due to check growth and my placenta previa. Typically, in a non high risk pregnancy, my office would not have scheduled any more ultrasounds.
I had one today at 33 weeks. They didnt say anything about another one. Im also getting nervous about how they plan on me delivering this baby. Im a pretty small girl (i had a 23" waste pre-preg) and i swear i still havent developed hips. The dr has not once mentioned a c-section..
Yup, the hospital here does three major ultrasounds (the 12-week, the 20-week, and the 34-week) with the last one meant to determine placement, weight, any factors that could preclude a normal birth (I guess). We're excited to see our little guy one more time before he arrives!

I will have another one at Jan.18th (36 weeks) due to SUA (single umbilical artery) although so far, at every ultrasound he has looked super healthy!! at my last one at 29 weeks, they estimated him to be in the 75th percentile for weight and head size!! YAY!!
Mine has I actually will have a ultrasound every week starting on Monday. Me because of my diabetes just to make sure that my LO is not getting to big and she has enough fluid around her.
