1st Trimester

anyone else having the opposite of constipation?

So I am really not constipated, in fact, I have mostly had loose stool a few times a day since I've been pregnant.

Any else having this issue?

  • I did till I reached the 8 week mark then the constipation set in. I am now 12 weeks and things seem to have evened out.

  • Totally!  Since the day I found out I was pregnant!!!!  I've found for me small meal portions (way smaller than I'm used to) really helps.  If we are going out to eat with friends or family I just take an immodium before hand and that has really helped (otherwise, if I eat a full size meal I have to run to the bathroom within minutes of eating!!!!)  GL...and try smaller portions...don't eat until you are full!

  • It was like that for me last week... and then something changed and I became constipated in the last few days. :-( I eat TONS of fiber and drink a lot of water, and I walk to and from work and it still happens. And I've been taking PNV since September with no problems.
  • I was horribly constipated with my first pregnancy.  This one, its the total opposite.  Neither one is fun!!  Another joy of pregnancy...

  • OMG...I have the same issues...driving me crazy.. Is it normal?
  • Ugh.  Yes.  Sometimes I am and sometimes I'm not.   It's all crazy different all the time.   It's something they don't tell you before you get pregnant!!   Lol

  • Yes, definitely. I thought I was going crazy, but definitely from 4w1d I noticed things were "running smoothly." No constipation to speak of yet, but I'm sure my time will come.

  • Completely know where you are coming from.  I have been this way since about 8 weeks.  I asked my doctor about it, and she said that the majority of pregnant women get constipated, but for a lucky 10% or so, it goes the other way ;-o  So, just be sure to drink lots of fluids and keep yourself hydrated (sounds funny...but the hydration part is important).  Additionally, you can try switching pre-natal vitamins as sometimes those play a role in it, too (although they didn't for me).  Good luck!
  • In all honesty Yes. Diarrhea has been my indicator or what I can eat and what I cannot eat. That is the only symptom that I have had my entire pregnancy and I am 14 weeks and 6 days today. So you are not alone!!!!
  • Yes, I'm 6 wks today and same thing going on. I used to have this issue prior to AF starting too.

I'm hoping it goes away soon for all of us going through it!

  • I have not been constipated once this entire pregnancy.  In fact I look forward to just "regular" days. There has been days where I pass gas and get nervous. But my doctor said its fine as long as I stay hydrated during those times.
