I know this is the bump boards, but for some reason I can't get onto the knot, so I was hoping someone would be able to give me some suggestions.
So my fiance and I finally agreed that we will be getting married on February 25th. The only problem is that we don't know where we can have a ceremony. Becuse I am Catholic, they have a 6 month marriage preperation and they will not budge on that, even though I am not looking for a Catholic ceremony.
I really want us to be married before the baby comes in March, I just don't know what to do at this point. I think I'm more frustrated that I can't get in touch with him (his phone died, he forgot to charge it last night! grr....) So my question is if anyone has any suggestions for places that will marry us besides the courthouse. We really don't want that. His family was never very religious, so they don't have a church that we could turn to.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated...we are looking for places on the north side of Indy, or even Carmel. We currently live in Lebanon, so even somewhere in Zionsville would work.
Thanks ladies!
Re: Need help with ceremony...
I'm ok with a non-Catholic wedding....I honestly want a short and simple ceremony, and there will be less than 15 people in attendance. Just my parents, brother, his dad and stepmom, his sister, and we are each bringing one friend. Its just so frustrating that we waited so long to decide this...we are also in the middle of completely renovating our house, and we really wanted to wait to start planning until we moved in, but it looks like it will be mid-January at that point.....we originally thought we would be in by this past May!
I'm more looking for a place that will perform the ceremony on a short notice that isn't the courthouse, and won't judge us for me being 8 months pregnant at our wedding.
We have thought about Brown County, but I honestly don't think his dad and stepmom would travel that far. She's kinda a piece of work. But I might look into it. Any particular place you reccommend?
Are you set on getting married before the baby? We had a surprise pregnancy, and just got married last month when our daughter was 4 months old. It actually worked out really well, and people enjoyed getting to see Josie. It was important to us to have our friends and family there, and I didn't want to be pregnant in all of my wedding pictures. Plus I had a lot of morning sickness so I would have been miserable.
Private officiants are expensive--around $500. Marilyn York is who pp was thinking of, and I've been to two weddings Roger Fecher has done. Renting churches also isn't cheap either, since that pays for the wedding coordinator and minister and sometimes sound & music people--ours was $900 and that was the member rate. If you waited a few months a park or a gazebo would be a good option.
Good luck!
Was just getting on to tell you that it was Marilyn York...I could find the cost if you really need it. I really dont remember it being 500 though for her but she did do a great job for us!
