I just got back from a 5 day trip without my kids. I'm still exclusively breastfeeding my 5 month old DD so of course I was stressed. I pumped like crazy before I left and made sure my mom had enough milk for her. She wasn't the best bottle taker before I left, but after the first 2-3 bottles my mom said she became a pro and pretty much attacks the bottle.
I pumped every 3-4 hours (sometimes longer) while we were gone and didn't bring any of the milk back...yes, I dumped all of it. We were in Mexico and I had no way to properly sterilize/store all of the milk. Thankfully DD was ready to nurse as soon as we got back and she's latched on and happily nursed away since. I was so stressed that she would reject me, but she's as happy as can be.
I know that there have been a few posts about travelling without babies lately and thought I might share. I stressed a lot about it, but thankfully we're right back in the swing of things. We're leaving for another 8 days in May and I'm praying that things go as smoothly.
