we only cosleep half of the night [in crib other half] but 90% of the time she is on my chest. The other 10% she is cradled in my arms and I face away from DH.
DD sleeps in the crook of my arm so we're belly to belly. She starts out the night in her bed and comes to our bed when she first wakes up. When she wakes up again, I roll over to the other side to feed her and just alternate all night long.
DS sleeps on my side of the bed on his side facing me. I try to put him on his back but he always rolls over and lays his cheek against my breast. Some times I put him in the middle but DH can't sleep with him there because he worries about rolling over on him. We keep what is basically a pool noodle under the sheet on my side of the bed so he can't roll or scoot off.
The couple of times we co-slept in the bed, he slept in the crook of my arm, in between H and I. The only real reason I had my arm around him was that H was/is TERRIFIED of rolling over on him. This way, if he started to encroach on us, I could push him or wake him up before he made it all the way over.
Little Man (4 years old---holy cow) He's the single greatest thing I've done in my life and reminds me daily of how fun (and funny) life can be. He's turned out pretty swell for having such a heartless and evil mother.
We have unintentional co-sleeping at our house. Little bit has a very nice moses basket/bassinet two feet from the bed, but ends up on my chest just about every night. It's just easier. I worry about accidently smushing him, but so far we both seem to sleep better. I know he's still breathing and he is warm and comforted. I think he might have acid reflux too, so sleeping on me puts him more angled... Hopefully, he can make it back to the crib before he is walking.
I hold him in my arms and we face each other, and whichever side I'm sleeping on depends on what breast he's feeding off of.
This is how we sleep, generally. If DS goes to sleep early enough to start in his crib (which is in our room), great, but he stays in our bed after his first overnight feeding. We have a king-size bed, so DS sleeping between me and DH is less of an issue.
I have the arm's reach cosleeper mini. It was on clearance at Walmart and it is AWESOME! No worries about smothering but I can also keep her closer if I need to. Plus it's easy to breastfeed in bed, side to side. I love it!

Just FYI- if you mean LO sleeping in the same bed, it's bed-sharing. Co-sleeping means LO sleeps in the same room, such as in a pnp or bassinet. We bed-share with DS, he sleeps to my left (the cradle is tight against my side of the bed to keep him from rolling off- we hope he'll use it some day), H sleeps on my right and our dogs sleep on the other side of H. Thank God for Cali King beds ;-)
she's usually in the crook of my right arm (middle of the bed) facing me or out. i've got a space set up between the hubs & i- and i just got her to sleep there (not being held by me) last night.
my pref would be for her to be in the nursery in her crib- but alas.
We start the night off with Lucia in the co-sleeper. After the 1st feeding she is in bed with us for the rest of the night. And I alternate her being in between me and the co-sleeper and in the middle of DH and I. I like starting the night off with her in the co-sleeper so that DH and I can get some alone/cuddle/sex time but I LOVE having her in bed with us otherwise.

Thanks everyone. Sorry if I used the wrong term. I had see Co-sleeping used in the context of bed sharing and thought it was the same thing. We also have an arms reach co-sleeper, but lately LO won't sleep well unless he is on his tummy, which is a no-no, so he's been on his tummy on my chest (or DH's chest) He just sleeps so much better that way and has less problems with reflux.
I was just curious how many other moms share their beds with their little one. You read so much about how you shouldn't, but I find that so many mom's do. It just seems natural early on.
If you are interested in bed-sharing, please read carefully read these suggestions to do it in the safest way possible. Among them is the recommendation that baby sleep next to mother, NOT between father and mother. Bed-sharing is not as simple as just bringing the baby to bed with you. Appropriate precautions must be taken to ensure the safety of the baby.
