Hi ladies,
So I just learned that my progesterone is very low which means I didn't ovulate this cycle. It was 0.2 when it should be between 3-15 in the luteal phase. Since I've had two cycles of OPKs that never turned positive, I'm worried that I'm not ovulating at all. So, after a good cry (here at work...awesome), I called and arranged an appointment with the specialist that my OB GYN recommended. It's so frustrating because, if you remember I also have a high prolactin level, endometriosis, and Behcet's disease, oh yeah, and I'm almost 37, so I am just feeling like the cards are stacked against me at this point. I understand that progesterone shots are available and many other options...I guess I'm just coming to the realization that this is going to be a long, arduous process and I'm sad about that. Has any else had this issue and had success with the shots, etc? Anyway, I'm seeing the specialist on 01/03/11, so we'll go from there I guess. Hope you all are well.
Thanks for listening,
K.

In an effort to make you feel a little bit better let me just say that for me low progesterone was a relatively easy fix once detected. There is the possibility that finding this out is actually great news because there could be a simple solution. For me I was put on suppositories and I know others who were just given an oral medication to take daily. Getting some sort of diagnosis is a very big step. I've been at this a really long time so I know there are ups and downs and it's tough to stay positive. I'm sorry you are having a down moment right now, but having a tratment plan is a great thing to look forward to.
Good Luck and I hope you feel better, I know how tough it can be this time of year.

I just wanted to say good luck. Half the battle in TTC is knowing what is wrong (or what can help get you pregnant) so that is good.
I have a feeling I may also have low P4 so I am starting bloodwork next cycle.
good luck to you!

KZ - I too am on Progesterone suppositories - it's really no biggie. Your Dr. will put you on a schedule as to when to use them. The only thing that sucks with them is that they are a little messy but it's worth it! Once I went on those my progesterone was completely normal. I also have elevated prolactin levels but still ovulate - so it my depend on how high your levels are. They may put you on Clomid which will help you ovulate on a regular basis. I know it looks like the deck is stacked but looks like there might be a few simple things they can do to get you preggo.
Good luck!
Totally agree! I really felt like I was making progress about finding out what's up when we started going to the RE. At 41 I'm really glad not to be wasting time. We're all this together...it can be a long and frustrating road so lean on us! -Pix
