Okay, so I'm starting to think about registering and I know people have opinions on bottles, so please share your thoughts. I nannied for an infant last year and we used the Avent bottles, but the mom hated them. If they weren't tightened down by a sumo-wrestler, they would leak. On the other hand, I know BPA free is the new "thing" and some people are even going back to glass. I don't know where to begin with this. Oh, and I am planning on BF at first, so I don't know if that changes things. Any thoughts?
TIA ladies!!!
Re: Bottles? (XP)
Mom bought us a stainless steel bottle, and I REALLY like it for the non-breakage factor (comes with the gelly cover for holding) and the nipples are BPA free. Made by The Safe Starter.
Also, we are going the Tommee Tippee route. BPA free, and we know many couples that had sucess with these.
Almost all (plastic) bottles are now BPA free.
Our favorites include Born Free, Br. Browns and some love the Breastflow by First Years:

I tried so many different bottles and the only ones DS and I liked were Dr. Browns. You can buy them in plastic or glass. Yes, it's extra parts to clean, but I never cared.
The Avent bottles always leaked for me, too, even though I had heard good things about them.
Just register for 1-2 4 oz bottles each of a few different brands. You can't know what will work for you until you try it. Don't get a whole giant kit of one brand; if the baby hates it, you're SOL.
I plan to BF, but am registering for a manual pump with a great rating (medela harmony or avent isis are supposed to be good) and a few random bottles. I'll be home for a year, but I want the option of DH doing a late night feeding or being able to go out once in a long while.

I'm glad you asked this because I was JUST about to post about the same thing!
I really would like to use glass.
I don't reheat things in plastic, store leftovers in plastic, drink out of plastic (except on very rare occasions if it's bottled water or something straight from the fridge)... etc... I've been "anti-plastic" for the last 3 years and I really don't want to use plastic bottles with the baby.
I can probably adjust to BPA free bottles/niples if necessary, but am still skeptical.
DD would only take Avent bottles, and we've never had a problem with them leaking.
Most all bottles are now made BPA free, so you pretty much have your choice.
Not all babies will take all bottles, and DD was very picky! Especially because she was breastfed. I found Dr. Browns bottles to have a pretty fast flow, even on the lowest level. The Avent ones were the only ones she would go back and forth between nursing and bottle.
This time, I ordered some of the "Breast Flow" bottles by Safety First. They supposedly have a new and great design that makes them closest to breast feeding, and I'm hoping to have less problems with switching back and forth!
