I had my first IUI this morning.  My husband is not a very happy camper because they did not check to see if I had ovulated before doing the procedure, they checked afterwards.  I have not ovulated yet so they were like have sex tonight and tomorrow.  I am a little disappointed in them, but they are closed on Saturday so I guess it was either do it today or not do it.

Have any of you other IUI girls done the insemination before you ovulated?  I am not sure if this is normal practice or not.

    I doctor never checked for ovulation. He does usually do the IUI's back to back and tell us to have "relations" both nights. Good luck. Good news is the sperm after being washed can live for 12 hours and without being washed can live on average for 72 hours.

    According to my RE, they like to time IUI's right before ovulation.  This gives the best chance.

    I haven't had it done yet, but my RE said the timeline would be trigger at night, then come in for back to back IUIs the next two mornings. I know that's not very helpful since I haven't actually done it yet. Good luck!

    IVF with ICSI= BFP! EDD 11/25/11

    Our twin boys arrived at 36w5d due to IUGR and a growth discordance

    FET: Medicated FET moved up to 5/23 due to ovulation
    Transferred a 6BB hatched blastocyst- genetically normal female embryo
    BFP! 5/28- 5dp6dt      
    6/1 Beta #1- 223! 6/3 Beta #2- 567!

    I think you should be ok.  It's better than having the IUI after you ovulate - which I think was how one of mine went!  GOOD LUCK!!!!

    I've never had a sonogram before/after an IUI to check for ovulation.  I get my last sonogram two days before, I trigger than night, then go in for the IUI two days later.  We have sex the day after an IUI, and the day after that (following my RE's schedule) and it's always worked out fine.
