name anxiety now! what are the chances..

the neighbors would name their baby girl the same name we have picked out?
it isnt an overly popular name right now - like Emily, Isabelle/a, Grace, ect.

she is due around this time but my gift to DH involves using nuggets name - and i just am nervous for some reason!

and yeah we wouldnt use it if they did just because we are direct neighbors and the girls hopefully will be good friends being only a few months apart in age!

I wouldn't let that bother you. It's your neighbor - who knows when you or she might end up moving. I'd hate to avoid a name and then she moved next year and it wouldn't have mattered anyway.

Eh, if you had your heart set on it, I would use it. I don't think it's that big a deal if they have the same name even if they do end up friends. I was always closer with my neighbor who shared my name.

Why are you worried? Have they mentioned the name before? I wouldn't think twice about it.

lol no we just started talking but talked about how fun it will be for our girls to have a built in friend in the neighborhood.

im sure im just worrying over nothing - its not the end of the world but again DH said he wouldnt want her to have the same name as the neighbor either which i can understand.

but really im probably just worrying over nothing since there are SO MANY great names out there for people to pick lol.

and i wouldnt be mad obviously, maybe just a touch sad if they did randomly use it.

but no name talk. i told DH to call our other neighbor he talks to and see if they did have her and if he knew a name! his gift today depends on me kind of knowing if we are using it in full because of the other surprise hidden with it!

FWIW, my sister's best friend has the same name as her. Its never been a problem and they have often found it funny because when they were kids, they would answer to each others moms.

I wouldn't worry about it. Like pp's said, people move all of the time. If it is a name you like and had picked it out before they announced their name, I wouldn't worry abou it. FWIW, someone in our family usually has the same name as one of our neighbors. There will always be people with your name.

Wait...you're only worried because the neighbor is pregnant? I thought she must be considering the same name and that you guys have talked about it. Relax, the chances are extremely slim.

I can relate. I have two cousin's who's wife's are due 2 weeks before me. One is having a girl, one is having a boy. I'm on team green. I'm afraid to ask them what their names are b/c I'm afraid they will be the names we pick.

This. Unless you talked to them about names and the one you like is on their list, I wouldn't worry.

I have the same fear, but with a friend of mine. She is due in a few weeks and refuses to tell me the name she picked for her little girl, just that she doesn't want us to use the same name. I have no interest in using the same name as her since our little ones will most likely be friends and going to school together, even though my friend and I have the same name haha. DH and I have already picked out the name for our LO but are worried the friend will use it and we'll have to pick another. Pain in the butt.

Don't worry about it. If it's name that you have your heart set on then use it. Who knows, your neighbor may use a different name.

i knew deep down i was being silly - i mean of ALL of the names out there - and when we have never discussed names - the odds of them choosing the same one would be SOOOO slim! just fingers crossed it isnt one of those weird things that happens because i just spent $40 on something for Dh that i cant return!!
