So we have settled on Greyson "Grey" Charles for a boy but are struggling with a girls name. DH LOVES Gaby, but it's a little trendy for my taste (though I do like it ok).
Where are you from? I ask because some of the names are really Southern and may seem out of place in certain locales. The location would dictate which of them I'd go with.....
My name is Gabriele, and have always gone by Gabe (like a boy...not a funky spelling for Gabby). It's a german thing from what I understand. I also haven't been made fun of (to my face anyway ). I get funny looks sometimes, but nothing beyond that. Just a thought.
BFP 11/18/13. EDD 7/25/14. It's a BOY!

I voted Gabrielle. Other two just aren't my taste. Also, not sure if there's a reason for the "Gaby" spelling. But I know girls who are spelled "Gabbi & Gabby". I like Gabbi best.

I like Gabbi too! I just don't like gabby very much because to me it's a word for "talks too much" instead of a name. lol

We are in the Midwest. I know Darby is more popular in the South but which of the other names are Southern? Just curious! I like Gabrielle, Odette, and Adelie because they are all French names.
ETA- My middle name is Rae, after my dad, Ray, who is from Tennessee haha so yeah, I guess Darby Rae is pretty Southern, lol.

We're very much into ignoring what's "trendy" and not nixing names off the list bc we hear they are too popular. You like what you like! That said, I don't think of Gabrielle as a trendy name at all.

Aw, I love Adelie!
Thanks! Me too! I would use it as a first name, but DH doesn't love it.

Stupid Bump cut me off after I had written a bunch. Anyway- I can't get past the trendy name thing. I always just felt so sorry as the girls who had to go through lower schooling with the first initial of their last name always attached to differentiate them from the 5 other kids in their class with the same name. That said, I'm glad you don't think Gabrielle is too trendy. It is regularly in the SS top 100, but the only reason why I'm considering it is bc I don't think that there would be a bunch in the class named the same or anything.
Thanks for the input everyone! It is helpful, obviously the far and away bump winner was Gabrielle. Which is good bc DH loves it and it has always been a favorite of mine too. After some discussion this afternoon I think we have it narrowed down to either Gabrielle Adelie or Gabrielle Lisette. I think we are going to spell nn Gabby based on H's preference. My name ends "bby" and he said he wants baby to spell like mom. awww. Couldn't say no to that. Again, thanks for the help! Even if this baby is a boy, Gabrielle will be used at some point!

I don't know why, but looking at that spelling makes me think of the word "Rabbi." And no, I'm not Jewish, lol. I like Gaby and Gabby. I like the name Sadie, but the middle name ending in "ie" also is weird for me.
