Any crochet-ers?

I began making a blanket for my baby tonight. It looked pretty easy (it's labeled as easy). I wouldn't say I'm a beginner, but of course there is always something new that I've never seen before. Usually, I can find the answer in a book or online, but I'm just completely stumped with this pattern! It's on the Coats and Clark website, and it's pattern LW1628 - Crochet Sweet Baby Blankie. Has anyone made that blanket and understand how to get through Row 5? The "cross stitch" instruction has me completely baffled. I looked up videos, but it's hard to make a judgment when the video is working on a different piece. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!

Re: Any crochet-ers?

  • I'm not that good at crocheting and even worse at reading a pattern, but I have used the videos on nexstitch.com and they have been very helpful. Maybe you've already been there...

  • they don't mean front post/back post do they? or something similar? I wish they would give you a bigger, clearer photo.
  • oh wait, I get it. you skip a hole, DC, and then move BACK one so it crosses the stitch you just made.

so like if you have holes A B C D you would start in like D, then  A, then B

  • See, I was thinking it was like, an A B-thing. Do the front post, go over two SC, and DC in that hole, then cross back and do the DC to make the cross stitch. I think I'm most confused because I don't know if I'm supposed to have the same 128 stitches by the end of the pattern...and I was not getting 128 stitches after doing Row 5 - I got WAY more....
