LO is eating like a fiend. How do I know if I'm making enough milk? I pumped 4oz and she chugged it but that was two feedings worth of pumping. Another reason I donf know of Im making enough Also can you overfeed w a bottle? How Many oz should a 4week old eat? And finally any bottle recommendations to help w gas. We have Tommy tipped, dr browns and plated vent air.

You can definitely overfeed with a bottle, but they will just spit it up or spit it out. I think Izzy was eating 3-4 oz at 4 weeks. I hear Dr. Bs are best for gas, but I use playtex vent air and we don't really have gas issues anymore.

I think 4 oz at 3 weeks is too much for a BF baby. At 7 weeks DD ate 3 oz. So you probably did over feed your baby. Was baby fussy after the bottle feeding? I think at 3 weeks DD ate 2 or 2.5 oz.

um, no, my DD was still on BM at 3 weeks and she ate 3-4 oz. Every baby is different.

I should clairify that I pumped 4 so we gave it to her to see what shed eat. Usually she stops when full For all I know she was starving bc she wasn't getting enough from the breast all day (fussy all day) On top of that she has crazy gas pains. At this point I think it's something I ate but dont know what. I'm feeling a bit helpless as to why she is so uncomfortable and my once great supply seems to be dying off

She will take what she needs from the breast (I know, no way of telling how much she gets!) and she will sop when she is full form a bottle. If you feel she is having too much pain from gas, lay her on her back and do "bicycle kicks" with her legs. This usually send V ripping like a mad woman. It could be something you ate, though! (Like you said.) Google gassy foods. You are probably right! If you think your supply is low, there are a bunch of things you can try to up it. The easiest one to start off with is drinking more water. I don't know if this will help, but I hope so!!! Good luck!

I feel your pain. My guy is only 10 days old, and he's eating 2oz easily with each meal. I can't keep up the milk production w/breast feeding, so I've had to supplement w/formula. Now, he's used to the bottle, and has a hard time staying on the breast.

I also had to stop nursing around the 3rd day 'cause he was latching on & nursing too vigorously. My breasts were too sensitive to let him just breast feed. And my production has gone down since he's been bottle feeding & I've been pumping.

He's a hungry baby... already trying to hold his head up, and can sort-a hold his pacifier and bottle.
