"Preemies get fat"

I was running an errand with DD and this lady came up to us and the usual convo started...she was saying how cute DD was and how chubby her cheeks were and asking how old DD was... I told her she was 5.5 mos and she said "ooohhh she's sooo tiny" and I say well she was 2.5 mos premature....and then she says "well you know, preemies get real fat."  All I could say was "hmm that's interesting..." and walk away...where do people come up with this stuff? I mean obviously preemies get fat on them like all babies do but getting fat isn't bc they are preemies....

    How stupid. Babies are supposed to get fat, and it's awesome when a preemie baby starts to fatten up! We rejoice every day when we see more chub in Lyla's cheeks. And if that lady was talking about preemies as adults, she's just wrong. I know quite a few very slender people who were preemies.

    She's dumb.

    Awe my baby girl is Lyla too!! :)  I agree we get very excited when we see miss Lyla get bigger and chubbier, but I don't think they get "fat"...I know kids and adults who were preemies as well and are not fat at all ... that lady was weird.

    I would have responded with "Oh, so you were a preemie too!" and walked away.  But I can be kinda b!tchy sometimes... You're response was the more polite approach.

    LOL that would have been hilarious!!! She was definitely on the heavier side too, so it would've made sense haha I just can't think that quickly.

    Does anyone else think this is just plain wrong too? I mean I know a lot more preemies who are struggling to gain weight than I know fat ones. There was a time I'd have done just about anything for some cheeks and rolls.
