At the risk of sounding like an idiot, can someone tell me how you pronounce Emmeline? Is it Emma-line, Emmie-line, Emma-lynn or Emmie-lynn? It writes beautifully, just not sure how to say it correctly. Never met one IRL. TIA!
It's French and the correct pronunciation is Em uh leen. The INE is like Josephine and Evangeline. However I've seen quite a few Americans use Em uh lien (myself included) because it more closely follows our rule of pronunciation and it's not a well known as other French INE names.

Its also german, and Em-uh-line is the correct way to pronounce it if you're using that origin.

I'd also be happy to scan my family tree for you if my scanner was actually working. We're quite german and there are a few on there before my Great Grandma emigrated to the States.
Please note that I said "ALSO" german. I wasn't contradicting that its french as well. Just adding to your original comment.

got links?
I can't believe you didn't know that, Angel! All the -line names are pronounced lien in German. I never realized you thought you were pronouncing it incorrectly: )
Well since our inspiration is French, it was the only pronunciation I knew. But that's cool...I learned something new today! PP - thanks for the link!!
My instinct is to pronounce it LEEN because growing up I knew a girl with this name and this is how her family (originally from France) pronounced it. But I realize LINE is probably more popular around here, and I think it's pretty as well.

It's on our list and I would say Em-uh-line.
Emeline is German origin and Emmeline is a variant form that is French or German.
