Baby Haircuts

Who/ where do you go to get your kids hair cut?  Cooper can't see out from under his mop anymore, and if I keep trimming the bangs I'm going to give my child a mullet.  How much do baby haircuts cost?  Any place recommendations or places to stay away from?  Bonus points if they're on the west side.  Help.

Re: Baby Haircuts

  • We go to Cool Cuts at Town and Country - it's expensive $17.95. DS usually screams the entire time. We try to see Jill - she's the fastest.

We also go to Cool Cuts...  If you sign up on their web site they will send you a $4 off coupon...

  • We started at cool cuts but the idea of spending $40 for two kid's cuts made me sick.  We moved over to great clips with great success and they are only $10 per kid.  I usually just hold Gabriel and it goes well.

We tried Great Clips this morning. Since dad was getting a haircut, thought we'd try before heading to Cool Cuts and success! DS didn't shed a tear! We even had a coupon!

  • We did Snip Its on the west side of PL for his first cut.  There was video and bubbles, and balls - everything to distract him from what was going on!  He did really well.  I think I had a coupon for a first haircut for $10 (normally $17, i think).  The second time, we went to DH's little place down the street.  It went horrible - they tried to use the buzzers the whole time (as opposed to actually cutting with scissors), and there was a LOT of crying.

I got another coupon for Snip Its, so went there again - went pretty well again.  The last time, I went to a random regular place down the street, but I asked them to use scissors, and I brought my own bubbles and an iPhone for movies.  Went ok. Never been to CCs.  GL!

  • I think it really depends on the kid as to how the haircut goes.  We go to Snip-Its at Woodlands Mall.  The first haircut required one stylist to cut with scissors and another stylist and me to hold him down.  The next few times after that, we got someone who was faster who used the clippers first then cleaned up with the scissors.  However, as soon as we got to the threshold of the store, he would just start crying.  The last couple times, he's been much better.  The lollipops, toys, bubbles, and video now distract him.  The haircut is $17.95.  However, if you prepay 6 haircuts, the price goes down to $14.95.  I think it gets better the older the kid gets.  Good luck!
  • I thought I'd report back.  We took him to Cool Cuts Saturday morning and it was ok.  Not great but ok.  He didn't cry or even seem to mind, he just didn't want to sit still.  The lady cutting his hair almost gave him a duck tail (which would be even worse than the mullet he had!) But I just kept pointing out the long part and turning his head down so she could get it even.   I'm a little sad his pretty waves are gone (ok very sad) but he can see again and he doesn't pull at it.  DH assures me it looks good.   Sigh.  I'm sure I'll get used to it and it will grow back.

  • We used Pigtails & Crewcuts. DS did really well and enjoyed "driving" the cop car during his cut. They were nice enough and set up for kids. The cut itself wasn't great, but it's a little hard to get a real straight cut when Ds wouldn't sit still.
