Our house got broken into about 10 minutes after P and I left for the museum today. Luckily, our neighbor heard the door get kicked in, and called the police. They were only in our house for like 2 minutes, but still managed to completely destroy our living room. A major pain in the assss, but it could have been a million times worse.
Oh, and I got a BFP!
Interesting day, no?
Re: One Hell of a Day
Woah! Congrats on the BFP! Lots of August babies on the Indiana board!
That sucks about the break in. Did they take anything? We got broken into a couple of years ago, and it just makes you feel so violated. I hated that feeling of not feeling safe in your own home. They took about $8,000 worth of stuff, but luckily we had insurance.
Thanks! They got 2 computers, 2 game systems, and broke almost all of the furniture in that room in the process. They were literally in the house for 2 minutes. They spotted my neighbor on the phone and bolted.
Thankfully, YES! The external hard drive and my digital camera and lenses were on the next shelf over. They didn't have time to get to them. I seriously came in the house, hugged our dog (who was home at the time), and squeezed the hard drive. They were the only 2 things in the house I was worried about
Oh good! My laptop was stolen, and they tried taking my husband's computer, but they ran out of time. Luckily, all of my stuff was backed up on an EHD, except for a couple weeks worth of pictures. We are actually backing our computers up to an online server now (it's taken a month so far...) just in case something happens to an EHD.

Wow!! What a crazy up and down day, that is nuts!
I couldn't imagine how violated you feel. I'm so glad that you still have your pictures and your dog wasn't harmed. Also, thank goodness you guys weren't home! I'm sure they were waiting until you left, but still, could have been worse.
Congrats on your BFP, I know you mentioned you were going to try soon! Parker seems like he'd be the best big brother.
First and foremost, the important stuff--Congrats on the BFP!
Secondly, thank goodness you are all okay an that they weren't smart enough/didn't have enough time to get the EHD. Everything else can be replaced fairly easily...
Try to get some sleep tonight
CONGRATULATIONS! On the BFP, not the burglary...
Wow, I bet you feel all freaked out about getting your house broken into. What a mess.
Hey, if/when you want to be added to the birthday list, let me know your EDD!
I've been there--my apartment was robbed several years back. They took all my dvds (I'm sure there were several I forgot I had that I didn't get replaced), my dvd player, and some jewelry. Thankfully I had insurance too. It was partially my fault b/c I didn't have the door deadbolted--I was used to not locking it b/c of my roommate still being home and didn't do it that day.
One of my friends had someone break into her house when she was home with her 1 year old (maybe it was 18 months). She ran into a closet and thankfully the baby slept through it and they didn't find her. The next day she found out she was pg too.
Congrats on the BFP though!
Holyshit @ the break-in. Thank GOD for an eagle eyed (and eared) neighbor. You're the 4th or 5th person who I've heard of having a break-in in the last year or so. I'm glad your dog is OK, you have your EHD, AND that you weren't home!! I can't believe you have to deal with this crap a week before Christmas. Such BS and the *LAST* thing you want to deal with at anytime, but especially at this time of year.
Congrats on the BFP! At least something good came out of the day!
OMG! First off, congrats on the BFP!!!! :0)
That sucks and is so scary about the break-in! At least everyone is ok and it was just material things that were taken. I cannot imagine how violated you must feel.
I really just want to hug you! First, as a congratulations on the new little one, and secondly, for surviving one of craziest, most stressful days of your lives!
I'm impressed that this close to the event you're already so focused on the important stuff. Your family, your dog (who I consider family) and your family memories and records are all safe. I would hope that I would be thinking with such grace if the same thing happened to me.
I'll have to settle for a virtual ((((HUG))))!
Jess
I am so sorry about the break-in. That really suuuuucks, but I am so glad that you guys are safe. Let me know if there's anything I can do to help.
I am also so excited for you regarding your BFP! I hope you have a happy and healthy pregnancy.
oh no on the burglary! Jeff said he saw that on facebook - how scary!
But congrats on the BFP! Very exciting!
Mother's Day, 2011
OMG I'm sorry
and OMG congrats!!!!
Wow - I am glad everyone was safe. That really sucks - sorry you have to go through it. I truly believe karma will come around to those who broke in.
And congrats on the BFP!
Congrats on your BFP!!!
I'm so very sorry to hear about the break-in! Luckily, you all are safe! ::hugs::
