Never ending diaper rash...

It feels like every time I put Addison back in cloth (she is in sposies at day care) she gets some type of diaper rash. She wears an overnight diaper every night and usually wakes up with her lips bright red and irritated looking. Then sometimes we end up with yeast even though I have stripped, bleached and treated diapers each time we have it. What in the world am I doing wrong?!

I use mostly BG 3.0 pockets with the occassional GM or B4 thrown in during the day on the weekends. I wash with the EFF blog detergent and do a cold wash w/ a tablespoon of detergent with an extra rinse and water plus, sanitary (super hot) wash with a tablespoon of detergent with an extra rinse and water plus and then another cold rinse with water plus.

I am getting really frustrated because I love my cloth and now I'm starting to not want to do it anymore because I feel bad for her poor girlie parts and bottom! :(

Re: Never ending diaper rash...

  • I'd cross post this to the CD or EFF board (or both). But here are my 2 cents....Don't BG 3.0 use microsuede (as the part of the pocket that touches baby)? I've heard that some LOs are very sensitive to that. Try using just your other diapers and see what happens. IF this is what you are using at night, it would explain why it's worse in the morning, and why cleaning/stripping isn't cutting it.

    GL!

haha that's ok! I XP on CD board though, thanks!! :)

I dunno if it's the microsuede or not because I have put her in the GM's  or B4's overnight and had the same result... Plus we've been using the BG's for a while and just started having issues the past few months. Can it develop all of a sudden do you happen to know??? Ugh. If that's the case I'm screwed. LOL I have a stash of mostly BG's.  I have a few FB that I can try overnight though to see if that helps.

FWIW I usually have 2 hemp inserts and 2 microsuede inserts too. So it's not like they shouldn't absorb enough. I don't get it.

  • DD wakes up red too if I don't use cream, but I guess it's from wetness, I use BG 3.0 at night. I use Burts Bees Diaper cream at night. I slather it on and use fleece liners I made. It helps, no more rashes. Actually I always use a liner now even during the day. I use BG organic during the day and it helps keep her dry. GL

I was thinking the same thing....what about a fleece liner?
