Anyone ever try NOT waking up their LO from a late nap?

Whenever someone posts that their LO is taking a late nap everyone replies to wake them up or they won't go to bed on time.  Well, S fell asleep today at 4 p.m. and it's now 6:30 and I'm taking a chance and letting him sleep right through (hopefully) till morning because I am a firm believer in letting babies sleep!  I changed his diaper just before his nap and he's wearing comfortable clothes and if he wakes up in the night I will give him a sippy cup of milk and try putting him back down quickly.  This may backfire on me and he may wake up at 3 a.m. for the day but...anyone else ever try this and had success?  Or did your LO wake up hungry in the middle of the night?

  • Margaux has napped late and slept through, but we think she was sick so I don't know helpful that is.  :/

    Good luck!

  • Well he's getting over a cold and had his second flu shot this morning so maybe he will sleep through too!  But he hasn't eaten since 1 p.m. so it may be a very long night!

  • I don't wake L up. If he can sleep I let him! We've never really had a problem with it. If he does wake up early its usually either just barely early so we let him get up, or it is way early and he'll take a bottle and go right back down.

  • Gracie sometimes takes a nap at 4. I ususally just let her sleep. It just may push back her bedtime a bit.

  • UPDATE: The late nap was a fail.  He woke up at 7:30, ate, partied for a couple hours then went back to sleep at 10 p.m..  I was sure he would sleep right through!

Yeah, I can only remember one time that DD went down that early and slept through--she was sick.  Before she turned one, a late nap didn't screw things up too much, but now I can't let her sleep past 4:30 if I want any hope of putting her to bed by 9:00.
