Thoughts on Angelcare monitor?

Some people think these are the best and make for a better (less worrisome) night's sleep, yet others feel they prey on new mothers' fears.  What do you think?  Also, how it is detecting movement?  I worry that the baby will be essentially sleeping on an electronic device all night that could be sending who knows what type of strange signals through the baby.  Plus, is it really a "life saver"?

TIA!

Re: Thoughts on Angelcare monitor?

  • I have it and really like it. Honestly, it's nice to have the "tic" feature so that I hear it and know she is okay and don't feel like I have to check on her every 2 seconds. She hasn't slept in her crib at night yet. I have been using it for when she naps during the day so I can get stuff done. It really depends on your personality.

As far as it being a life saver, just read the reviews on it. You'll see for yourself.

Why do you have two tickers?

  • My daughter slept in her crib for a whole 4 hours last night and it brought me comfort.  That's good enough for me.  I registered for the $100 version and someone purchased it as a gift.  It wasn't much more than other monitors that don't have the movement feature.

  • I use the Angelcare monitor.  We had some issues with false alarms in the beginning--but it was completely our fault as we did not have the sensor pad set up correctly in our crib.

My LO has been sleeping in his crib in his own room since day one and it brings us a lot of reassurance.   The movement sensor works great as does the sound.  We can hear everything very clearly over the monitors.

  • I love our Angelcare monitor. We have had very few false alarms. Most times when it goes off it's because LO has gotten her self all snuggled up in a corner and it just can't fin d her.

LO sleeps on her belly too, so the monitor has helped me get some sleep and peace of mind at night.

  • I think it's fine if you need the reassurance. There's nothing wrong with that. For myself and DH, we don't need nor want one. Most of the time we turn our regular monitor off. The twins are in the room next to us so when it's time to feed them they let us know. I don't need to hear every sound they make during the night. I'd rather sleep through their grunting and squealy stretching noises.

  • Really like the monitor, not much static and having two frequency settings is helpful to avoid interference in different places. It had the best reviews of all the sound monitors we looked into. Never used the motion sensing pad, didn't see the need.

In regards to the 2 tickers, it seems everyone on the tri boards have at least 2 tickers of the same thing now...
