NBR: You did not say that to me

I nearly snapped my nephew's head off yesterday.  He had the day off school and Tim and I stayed home from work because it was not worth it with the weather.  The nephew went out walking around, tried to visit his girlfriend (way to much drama with her mother) and came home.  He mentioned offering to help some people shovel snow to which we both reminded him that we had snow at our house too.  He shoveled around the house and the driveway and the street where the snowplow had partially blocked the driveway.  He did a great job. He came in and I was ribbing my husband about never shoveling snow (he hates to do it, only did it once last year.)  The nephew looked at me and said "Aunt Catherine, do you go out and shovel snow?"  In my head I though, "Nope, but I do the majority of cooking and cleaning and all the laundry.  I think I get a buy on shoveling snow."  But he is too much like his father and that would have gone over his head.  Angry

  • Hey at least your nephew did it for free!  At some point he'll be old enough to start asking for money to shovel your snow.  Wink  But, if Tim only did it once last year and you don't shovel then who does?

  • He is 17.  He lives here rent free.  He is part of the household and can shovel some snow.

And no one shoveled snow last year. It packed down until it was an icy mess.  That was fun being pregnant and leaving for work alone.

Well that's different...he should be out shovelling and chipping ice off the driveway every day!

  • Did you smile sweetly and say "Nope, that job's all yours!  Unless you want to pay rent, of course.  Ha ha."
