There are so many out there and can't choose, especially between just the standard monitor and the one with a TV. Is the TV necessary? I feel like I will be stalking my child all the time and become obsessive over it if I choose this option. I don't know...so many choices
Re: Recommend your baby monitor...
this is what I have & it was recommended by a few of the moms on here. It is a TV monitor, but I love it. Maybe it is just me, but I need to see DD, not just hear her at night.

I do have a sound only monitor that I use if she falls asleep for a nap anywhere but her bed so I can move around the house, but I only use that during the day. I probably could do without this one, but it was a gift & it is convenient.

We have this one (sorry, can't make it clicky on my Mac in Safari);

We love the video monitor, I wouldn't buy anything else. In the middle of the night I'll hear him make a noise, turn the screen on and see that he's still asleep but made a noise or sneezed, etc.. Often times LO's will move or make a noise but they're still asleep so it saves me from walking from our room to his which is only a few steps but at 4am it's a nice convenience
HTH!

We have this one, except in silver, not pink, and it wasn't as expensive as listed here, either. BRU had it for 199.99, but I got to use a 20% off coupon. It works great....I love it!
and to make things more confusing, this is the one we have. I don't know if i can recommend it yet though, since it's still in the box! LO hasn't slept in his crib yet, so we haven't set it up. i definitely wanted video though. but i wish we had gotten the one tara has instead b/c it can zoom and scan, whereas the one we have is just a single fixed angle
(of course, not having used a monitor yet, i can't say whether the extra features are necessary, but they seem useful!)
also, some reviews talk about interference and privacy concerns, and i think(?) lelekay's is more secure...but i didn't really pay too much attention to that...
This is the one I was looking at, but had no idea there were zoom and scan features
We are registered at both Target and Amazon, and only found the Pink monitor that lelekay suggested which I love on Amazon. Target doesn't carry it. But my boy is not having a pink monitor
Hahahaha! Tara and Vanessa, I love how big the monitor is on these ones too. Geesh, I can't believe the options out there...good grief.
Hmmmm, I will have to keep looking.
Thanks ladies for the suggestions so far, I appreciate it!

Must get the Summer Infant Video Monitor. It really is the best purchase ever. I can't begin to praise the awesomeness of this and we still use it to this day. And it'll help us decide when Ben is ready to convert his crib to a toddler bed. But for now, I can keep an eye safely and not have to go into his room. And it's hilarious to watch them especially when they get older. I watch him jump up and down, play and then roll around to go to sleep. Serious entertainment and safety rolled into one!
I've noticed that Costco.com has them for $189.99. Whoa! That's much less than what we were gouged (errr paid at Toys 'R Us)

I think I'm one of the few parents on the planet who doesn't have a video monitor, didn't want one, and doesn't miss it. I just never felt it was necessary. *shrug*
We have the Sony Babycall, and if you're looking for a good sound only monitor, it's fantastic. (Whatever you do, don't buy the Fisher Price Sound 'N Lights monitor - horrible reception and random loud bursts of static.)
We have this is silver too and love it!! all of our friends that come over and see how little and portable it is- they are so jealous
no complaints at all!
I never even thought of this, what a cool idea
Thanks everyone for the help, I really appreciate the guidance

Ditto!
We have a two story house and our bedroom is on the first floor, baby's on the second. We had to get a video monitor so that we could see her without going up and down the stairs all night. I love it...we can peek in on her with disturbing her or if she's fussing we can watch her to see if she settles down. I generally turn off the sound or have the volume really low because sometimes it can be very static-y. HTH
Now that she's starting to pull-up I'll have to buy a corner shelf for the wall so that we can place the camera high above her crib.
