I introduced with a spoon. But honestly, he didn't eat much until we started purees. I think that got him more excited about eating from a spoon and now he'll eat it.
We used a spoon, sitting down, mixed with breastmilk. I bought Earth's best.
However, he ate it for a total of 3 days, because by day 3 he was SO badly constipated (rice is constipating) we stopped. I transitioned to wheat cereal (was it?) right after that.
With this little guy I'm going to skip cereals altogether and go straight to avocado (or other veggie).
From what I understand, solids at this stage are more for practice (use of spoon, moving the food around in his mouth, swallowing) than actual nutritional value. This is why we chose to start with the spoon rather than putting it in a bottle. We started with Earth's Best and mixed it with breast milk. We have since moved on to other purees.
We skipped the cereals all together and just went right to avocado mashed with breastmilk. Then on to purees. Now he eats a ton of different foods, many of those are what we are eating.

Re: How did you introduce rice cereal?
they say from a bottle is a choking hazard.
I mixed with rice cereal...we used gerber. He was NOT a fan
We never put cereal in a bottle, just started with a spoon. We tried rice, and moved to oatmeal a few weeks later, mixing both with pumped BM.
We used Earth's Best as well.
