Yarn people-gift help!

My SIL loves to crochet and makes beautiful things for her family. Money is really tight for them and spending money on nice yarn is not in the budget. For Christmas, we bought her 6 skeins of yarn. 3 funky colors to make something for her daughter and 3 earth tones for herself. So, how would you package the yarn? Just throwing it all in a gift bag isn't very appealing to me. I am not crafty at all, so I am at a loss. I can spend about $10 more on her if necessary. Thanks!

  • pp's idea is good, or perhaps either a cloth bag if you can find one (I'd bet our green mercantile store would have them) or a box that can be reused.

i like the cloth bag idea - it could double as a project bag! (for her to tote around crochet projects)

  • I would get a basket to put the yarn in, and tie a pretty ribbon/bow around the handles.  I would probably add some decorative tissue paper to the basket before adding the yarn.

eta: I like the idea of adding a piece of fabric to the basket, instead of tissue paper.  The cloth bag is a good idea, as well.

  • Last year, my MIL gave me yarn in really pretty, round Christmas boxes. So, she didn't even have to wrap them! You can get them at Hobby Lobby or Michael's.  I've kept my yarn in them all year round. HTH :)
