Birthday Party etiquette

In mid January we will be having our 7 year old daughters birthday party at a roller skating rink. I say we should pay for any child that is attendings skate rental.  My husband says no they should pay for skate rental.  Who do you side with?

Re: Birthday Party etiquette

  • The hosts should definitely pay for skate rental.  We just had my 7 y/o's birthday party at a bowling alley and we paid for shoe rental.

  • The host pays for the rentals, food..etc.  All the guests have to do is come to the party.  They should not be required to pay for anything.
  • The host pays.  If you don't want to pay for the skate rental than you should not have a party at a place where you need to pay to rent skates.

  • Hosts pay for equipment rental at this type of birthday party.  Especially for kids this age, who probably get dropped off and who may not have pocket money.

  • Skate rental is usually something that is part of your party package.  I would check with the party planner at your skating rink.
  • Host pays. No-one will be expecting to pay for their kids skates.
