Yesterday I went to do the monthly blood test they do on me. Last month the nurse hit a nerve and my arm was sore for a week.
Yesterday, a different nurse burst a blood vessel and now I have a funky line and insane purple bruise? I look like a drug addict that cant even get it right!
(Never posted a pic before so I hope this works

Re: Now I remember why I don't like docs
Do they have an option for you to go to a separate lab, where all the people do all day is take blood? It sounds like they're inexperienced.
With me, even the lab techs can never find a vein. If they need more than one vial of blood, they have to use both arms, usually. And often they have to use the special butterfly needle that they use on little kids.
The sad part is that my blood type is O negative (the universal donor), so if my veins weren't so horrible I would want to donate blood all the time.
Awww that stinks! Both times I was at a clinic where that's all they do
I actually have better luck with students working on me! I think next time I'm warning them and if it happens again I will call to complain.
To be fair, the people stealing your blood probably aren't doctors.
I always tell the techs I've got "rolly veins". Seems to keep them on their toes so they actually hit me on the first try. It also helps a lot to chug some water beforehand and be very well hydrated.

I have a compromised immune system(primitive T cells) so I used to get tapped for blood a LOT in my left arm(usually over 10 large vials each time)...well, after a while, Surprise! That arm didn't want to give blood any more!
Well, when I went in for a biopsy on my right arm pit, they obviously couldn't tap my right arm for the IV, so it took 3 nurses trying for 20 minutes each before they called in the big guns....this sweet looking little lady who could find veins better and faster than Superman can find Lois Lane when she's been captured! She ended up having to tap the middle of my forearm!
Oddly, that surgery ended up meaning more to me than I would have imagined! Not only did we find out that I didn't have Lymphoma as we feared(my mom had N-H Lymphoma she found as a lump in her arm pit). But we also have LO as a souvenir b/c he was conceived the night before my surgery!
