I'm not going to start complaining yet too much- I was a full week overdue when I had my daughter and I was a "miserable pregnant" then. I feel fantastic this go round, and have prepared myself mentally for the long haul. I've been lucky enough to find a doctor that will let me go to 42 weeks if need be.
The end of this pregnancy (start of labor?) has been so different from my experience with my daughter. It's definitely a constant reminder that each pregnancy is different, no matter how hard I try to draw parallels from the two.
I have been having contractions each night from about midnight to 6 am since Saturday. They are getting progressively more painful, but not very timeable. Luckily I am able to sleep between most of them, and sleep through a few of them. Unfortunately the baby has my bladder in a vice and every time I get a contraction I have to pee, and each pee is weak because of his position. It probably looks as if I'm rocking through a contraction, trying to find a way to wedge him off my bladder so I can attempt to empty it. Last night I had a particularly stabby one that led to me losing my plug (oh yes, I brought the MP to the VBAC board!) At least I know that the contractions are working in my favor! Doctor said they are definitely dilating and effacing me (2cm 80% up from 1cm the previous few weeks). With my daughter everything happened all at once, so this gradual buildup is new territory.
From what I've read, I understand that all of this can potentially lead to a faster delivery - although I know it doesn't necessarily guarantee it. I'm hanging on to this ledge, ready to take the leap! I guess in wrapping this up, I didn't really have a point, just wanted to "talk it out"
Re: Due today, 6 days of prodromal labor
My body did the same thing before labor actually started. I know you didn't ask for "advice" but... have you tried acupuncture? I swear it was what helped my body the most during active labor (which by the way... I went from 4cm-10cm and pushing in about 2 hours).
I'm also fairly convinced that my body just needed a little "push" to get started. So my MW stripped my membranes at 41 weeks, and my contractions picked up in intensity and became regular at 3 mins just 14 hours later. GL and I can't wait to hear your birth story!!!
