how long do you let your LO nap?

are you on a nap schedule or do you let LO just sleep however long they want?

Re: how long do you let your LO nap?

  • the morning nap i pretty much let go as long as he needs. and even the early afternoon one - the late afternoon one I watch b/c I don't want it to affect bedtime.

  • Whenever he wants to. For however long he wants to. I found that when I 'limited' his naptime, he was an emotional wreck and was fussy at night, too. When I let him nap like he wants during the day... he still sleeps from 9pm-7am every night.   Good naps=Good nights.  I think there's some truth to that!

  • As long as he wants.  My son is a huge grump if you wake him up his sleep.
  • She usually sleeps about the same time everyday but different amounts of time each day. I just let her sleep. She took a 3 hour nap this morning after STTN. Crazy! The only time I wake her up is if she is sleeping right before bed time.

  • I let him nap whenever he want.  He usually goes to sleep at 8 and there have been days when he woke up from his evening nap at 6:30 or so and still went down for the night at 8.  He sleeps anywhere between 7-10 hours/night.

    This.

  • I am one of those people that don't believe in putting a baby on a schedule . I let sleep when and however long she wants to sleep . She has kinda made her on schedule in last month or so . She takes short naps about 30 mins about every 2-3 hour during the day . An she goes to bed at night around 6-6:30 and sleep till 4:30 or 5 each morning.

  • However long she wants IF we don't have anywhere to go.  If she's been napping and we need to leave the house I'll wake her.

  • He never sleeps longer than 2 hours at a time so I always let him sleep.

  • However long they want.  We start bed routine at 7:30, so I won't let them sleep longer than 7 during their evening nap.

  • I never let him nap longer than 2 hours per nap, and he usually gets 3 naps in a day.  But ironically, there are times when I realize "wow it's almost two hours, gotta get him up" and then before I even get to his room, he's up.  He seems to be unable to stay awake longer than 2 hrs, and sleep longer than 2 hrs!

  • As long as he wants, except for the last nap of the evening, where he usually falls asleep around 7pm.  I wake him at 8:30 for bath and bottle and a little play time before his real bedtime at 9:00pm.  Otherwise he wakes in the middle of the night and is up for a couple of hours.  This way, he sleeps till 6 or 7 am.

  • I'll let him nap for as long as he wants, He used to only nap for 45 min twice a day, he's now going for 1-2 hours now. I wont disrupt him.  If he's still sleeping, he obviously needs it.  Although, If he falls asleep or is still sleeping by 5:30-6pm, i'll wake him up otherwise he wont go to bet until late.  So i would wake him up then.
  • If he is sleeping past 2 hours then I go in, and turn off his fan and open his blinds. He usually wake up not too long after that.
  • DD rarely naps longer than 1.5 hours, and usually it's more like 30 mins, so we never try to limit her naps. She goes to bed about 6pm and will sleep until about 8am if she can, although she wakes up to eat a few times.
