Has anyone ever taken sudafed or anything similar while pregnant? I called my doctor this morning to ask what medicine I can take for my sinus infection. They recommended Sudafed for the congestion, however I mentioned it to my husband and 3rd time prego friend and they both said that does not sound like a good idea.
Re: Sudafed?
Is your husband a doctor? Why would you trust him more than one?
Most doctors have Sudafed on the "approved" list. It's up to you how much you want to suffer. Honestly, Sudafed does nothing for me anyway. When I was congested, I ended up taking Dristan for 3 or 4 nights so I could sleep (it's also class C on safefetus.com).

I was on Sudafed during the day and Robitussen at night for two weeks and had no issues (other than being able to breathe). My doctors have both on their 'safe' list. I can't imagine dealing with a bad cold or allergies without it.
If your doctor says it is safe, I don't see why you wouldn't feel ok taking it.
Sudafed is a decongestant...so it's impossible to get one without it. Unless I am misunderstanding your statement.
I was talking about things like Tylenol Cold or Cold and Sinus stuff. Decongestant probably wasn't the right word. My OB just said the most basic form of the medicine.
My doctor's safe list had just four meds on it but Sudafed was one of them.
Did your husband give a reason for his opposition?
Lol I just took another dose like 5 minutes ago.
I told my doc that I have a horrible cold on Wednesday. She asked if I was taking Sudafed and I said that no, I hadn't been taking anything. She looked at me like I was nuts. She said to take S and Tylenol or get the Tylenol Day stuff that is the combination of both.
