Wanting to get preg while breastfeeding

My son will be 6 mo on 30 Dec. My DH and I would like to begin trying for #2, but I would also like to continue BF my son. I plan to begin introducing cereal/solids at the end of the month. Right now I am BF any time I am with him and pumping 3x **his bottle times** at work. Any advice on how I can increase my chances...and if you were EBF when did your period return. Thanks ladies.

    My period never returned.... I got pg again almost immediately (within a month) after we started introducing solids at 6 months. Good Luck!

    I cut out a night feeding because DD didn't want it and then I got PG.

    We started solids at 6 months, and do BLW (baby led weaning, he feeds himself), so he started slowly.  I still breastfeed a lot though.  I got my first and only pp period when he was 10 months old, and found out I was pg on his 11 month birthday.

    We've been trying for a few months now. We introduced solids at 6 months, but DS is still nursing 3-4x during the day and 1-2x at night....and I'm still waiting for AF to return.

    I think after the new year, I'll try to wean him during the daytime or at least get him down to 1-2x during the day.

    I've been taking Vitex for 2 months hoping that it will help bring my cycle back.

    Some people can and some people can't get pg while nursing. We tried starting around when DS was 6 mo and I was at the time nursing for half of DS's feedings (one of the remaining 3 was pumped BM, but 2 were formula), and I just couldn't get pg. DS went on strike at one point, I got my period a few days later, and pregnant about 10 days after that. DS is a little over 11 mo and I am 19 weeks pg.

    DS was just over a year when we got our BFP, but I never got my pp. Like the above poster said some people can get pregnant this way and others seem to need to have to stop or significantly cut back.  My advice would be to start giving it a go and seeing what happens.  I never thought I'd get a BFP without getting my cycle back.
