Today is dh work party that is adult only. I will be away from dd for 5 to 6 hours tonight from 7pm to about midnight. I am freaking out about it.
1. I have not been away from dd for more than 3 hours her entire life.
2. My milk supply is super fragile yet extremely painful if she goes more than 4 hours without nursing. Its only happened a couple times due to falling asleep in the car.
3. Its at night so I can not knit for the 3hrs of driving tonight. That will be the longest alone time since the day we went to the hospital to have dd.
4. I'm still a bit sick and grumpy. Being a *** to dh coworkers would not be good. Hopefully I feel better by this evening. Maybe getting dressed up a teeny bit for the first time in over a year will help.
OH and I guess 5. I have NO idea what to do with my hair. Would I be lame to wear a cream colored super fancy knitted work headband I made? It could be a conversation starter for me.
Re: Lame. but a bit freaked out
I would totally wear the pretty headband. You don't know those folks, so if anybody mentions it you'll have something to talk about.
It's normal to be anxious, but try to be excited about it as an outing. Can you arrange it to try and make it only 4 hours, as a compromise? And really tank her up before you leave!
I can't imagine you being an a** to DH's co-workers - you're a very nice, friendly person.
Have a great time tonight!

I hope you enjoy your alone time with DH, even if it is in the car! I hope your mood improves - I always have mixed emotions about such gatherings. I'm sure your DD will be fine, and see if you can leave early if you end up being uncomfortable with your supply.
I hope you have a great time!
I have no idea where my pump is hiding. I can look for that in a few mintues. Just in case the ride home is painful.
DH drives an hour+ each day to work. 130 miles round trip. The party is in the town next to the one he works in, so farther for us. He is the only one that commutes so far. Being out of work though for a year we were grateful for him to have a job. Also, he loves it there and being promoted is looking quite promising.
