Pregnant after a Loss

Need help: Plus size mat. clothes

I need plus size maternity clothes.

I've looked through Motherhood online and JCP online. I'm a 26/28 pre-preg (it's my boobs Embarrassed).  Everything is so frumpy and grandma looking!!  Help!  I just want a couple of cute tops with empire waists.  I don't fit into Gap or Target. I normally shop Fashion Bug/Lane Bryant for everyday clothes & may just buy in the next size up.  But most plus clothes don't have a cute empire waist (to prevent you from looking pregnant when you're not).

Are there any options I'm missing for plus pregnancy?

  • Could you get tunic length tops from Lane Bryant in a larger size? I have a couple shirts I wear now that I had before being pregnant.Did you try old navy?

    What about these?

  • I actually have that one from Motherhood in my shopping bag already. :)  But I hadn't seen that one from Lane Bryant - so cute!  Something like that would totally work.  Thanks!!
  • If you are able to go to a Motherhood Store they have different styles available there.
  • Torrid has a new maternity line with a few cute items, I did good at Target and Old Navy but I'm an 18/20 so I could still wear xxl in both, but Old Navy has a womens plus maternity line now too. Motherhood is the only other one I can think of. Other than that I bought a lot of tunics from ON and LB.

Surprise I didn't know Torrid has maternity now! I'm hard to fit with other stores. I haven't found a Torrid here in Ga, but LOVED them in Tx. At Motherhood Maternity, I had to get the 1x there and that was the biggest they carried, at least in that store. (I usually wear an 18-20.) I'm glad this was posted!

  • I just ordered a bunch of stuff from Old Navy.  It hasn't come in yet, so I can't speak to the fit/quality, but I got some great deals!  They have a TON of stuff on sale, and also are running a 20% off holiday promotion, just use promo code "ONHOLIDAY."  I can't promise that promo is still going on, but I just ordered my things on Tuesday and it worked then.

  • I got a lot of cute tops that work for me at Fashon Bug

I am a 22/24 and so I just got everything one size bigger....

I did get things from Motherhood that are cute, but the trick to them is to call around to all of them in your area and see who carries the most plus size stuff.... Oddly enough I was working on the road and the Motherhood in Spokane WA which is much smaller than Seattle had tons of plus sizes.... I am not sure why they did but they did.

I also got a few cute tops at the Avenue and I believe that they go to 30/32 so that might work for you.  Every once in a while if you go to a Catherines you might find something that you might want to take home....

I havent looked much on Torrids site and nothing they carry around here has any maternity.  I bought some stuff from JCP and I personally felt that it all ran a bit on the small side....

    HTH!!

  • I'm the same size as you are and I've liked the clothes at Motherhood Maternity. They have some nice basic pieces that fit and wash really well. Some of their stuff is a bit boring in plus sizes but you can always doll it up with jewelry.

Old Navy has plus size that fit my belly well but I have very long arms and all of the tops' arms are too short for me but if you don't have that problem it might be a good option. They have great deals going on for the holiday season too right now.

  • Thansk everyone for all your responses! You've certainly given me tons of options I didn't know were there before!
  • Avenue has much more cute stuff than they used to have. A lot of their tops are cut longer than LB and I just went up a size.  Also, this site has clothes from lots of different places. Not much maternity, but tons of shirts that will still work!
